My Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows

Today, I thought I would share with you my favourite glitter eyeshadows. After all, what better time to wear glitter than at Christmas and new year? I have to admit though, that I would happily wear a glitter eyeshadow all year round. Glitter helps to make my eyes more visible from behind my precision tinted lenses. This my main aim with eye makeup.

Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows

Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows: Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

I’m not going to talk too much about this palette, as you can read my Smashbox Full Exposure Palette Review post. When applied with a brush, the glitter eyeshadows in this palette are ideal if you want a subtle shimmer to your eye look. Applied with the finger, these glitter shadows come off much more pigmented.

Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows: MAC Pressed Pigment

I bought the MAC Pressed Pigment in Blond Streak after seeing my friend wear it. I was on the hunt for a glitter eyeshadow that really packed a punch and her eyes looked just like I wanted mine to. Initially, I was disappointed with this eyeshadow. Try as I might, I could not get the same effect my friend had. For me, this is another great option for a subtle eye look and I find it works best when applied wet.

Favourite Glitter eyeshadows

L-R: Smashbox S3 from the Full Exposure palette (Check out my Full Exposure palette review for swatches of the rest of the palette and to see a wet swatch of S3), MAC Pressed Pigment in Blond Streak, Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadow in Space Cowboy and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Beige.

Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows: Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow

The Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadows are by far my favourite glitter eyeshadows. I have them in the shades Space Cowboy and Moonspoon. Space Cowboy is my favourite of the two, because of how versatile it is. It gives a very glittery, almost wet look when applied dry and gives even more intensity when applied wet. I don’t often do this, as I find a dry application gives me the look I want. Space Cowboy can be applied alone, or over the top of a coloured eyeshadow to add some glitter to a look. Moonspoon is gorgeous and gives the same level of pigmentation, but can’t be used as a glitter topper over other shadows.

Favourite Glitter Eyeshadows: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow

For a long time, the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Was Eyeshadow in Beige was my favourite glitter eyeshadow. I got this in the limited edition Navy And Nudes Eye Palette, but you can buy it as a single shadow. As well as flecks of gold glitter, this shadow also has flecks of pink glitter. The combination of the two means that the eyeshadow is more wearable than if it were all gold, without loosing any of it’s intensity. This is another shadow that works well alone or layered over another eyeshadow.

Have you tried any of these shadows? How did you get on with them? What are your favourite glitter eyeshadows?

Yess for glitter eyeshadows, I love using them so much! I even use them for every day makeup, I use it all over my eyelid and I use a liquid eyeliner and a mascara. The result is really nice and appropriate for every day!

    • I do too! They’re perfect for bringing my eyes out from behind my glasses. You’re so right that, worn the right way, glitter eyeshadow can totally be appropriate for day time. Xx

  • I just adore glittery eyeshadows! Great post Tania!
