Since writing my styling a yellow roll sleeves shirt post and receiving so many lovely comments, I’ve realised just how much yellow suits me. I decided I wanted to incorporate more yellow into my wardrobe. So when I came across this floral frill sleeve Bardot top in Matalan, while looking for swimwear for our upcoming holiday, I knew I had to get it.
Today’s outfit is the one I wore to watch Dan’s students perform at The Rep Theatre, Birmingham. As this was a school function and I was representing not only myself, but also Dan, I decided to forgo denim and opted for a black pencil skirt. This skirt is also from Matalan and is now too big for me. However, that makes it very comfortable to wear when using my wheelchair. The skirt was a gift from my Mum one day when we were out shopping together. She bought herself one too to wear at school (Mum is also a teacher).
I was a bit nervous how I’d get on with this floral frill sleeve Bardot top and self propelling. But, the material has got quite a good grip, without the elastic feeling tight. The shoulders did ride up, but not dramatically.
I love the big floral design. I tend to have problems visually with small, tight knit patterns, due to my photosensitivity. The frill sleeves are subtle and elegant. I think they add extra interest to the top.
I know you’ve seen my bag/shoe combination a lot, so I won’t go into too much detail about them. The wedges are from New Look, and I love how they make me feel! The bag is from Next and was a birthday present from my parents-in-law last year.
I’m planning on taking my floral frill sleeve Bardot too with me on holiday. It’s the perfect colour for a summer holiday and won’t crease in my suitcase. When wearing it on holiday, I’ll opt for a more relaxed look, pairing it with denim shorts, a denim pencil skirt or jeans.

This floral frill sleeve Bardot top can be purchased from Matalan.co.uk for £12.
