On the 18th July, I headed to London for the GOSH UK AW17 PR Event. As with the GOSH UK SS17 event, I had an absolutely fantastic time. We got to listen to a presentation from Sidsel Marie Bøg, GOSH COPENHAGAN’s global makeup artist, and Dina Kaffton the product specialist. It was a really insightful presentation, where we found out more about the brand’s ethos, history and goals. The passion of these two women really shone through. GOSH have some great products coming out this season, which I’m really excited about.
Some of the products from the GOSH AW17 collection have been gifted to me. Reviews of these will be shared shortly. More information can be found in my full disclaimer.
GOSH UK AW17 Collection
The GOSH collections have a theme, last season it was urban nature with dandelion as a featured ingredient. For Autumn and Winter, the theme is Nordic magic and the signature ingredient is organic oak.
GOSH UK AW17 Eyeshadow Prime £8.99
Eyeshadow primes is a must have product for me and I’m so pleased to see that affordable options are becoming more common. GOSH have released an eyeshadow primer that promises to to make your eyeshadow last for up to 24 hours. At the event, we were told that using this eyeshadow primer as a base will make any GOSH eyeshadow waterproof. I’m intrigued by this and am keen to put it to the test.
GOSH UK AW17 9 Shades Eyeshadow Palette To Party In London £11.99
There’s a new eyeshadow palette in town, and it’s gorgeous! inspired by the glitz and glamour of London’s night life, this metallic eyeshadow palette contains an array of beautiful warm, cool and rosy tones in both light and dark hues.
Unfortunately, this eyeshadow palette isn’t suitable for those with an egg allergy, as it contains lecithin and may be unsuitable for those with eczema because it contains citric acid, a common trigger.
GOSH UK AW17 My Favourite Mascara £8.99
Mascara is a very personal thing and it was great to hear in their presentation that GOSH understands this. My Favourite Mascara is designed to be an everyday mascara, giving a natural, healthy look to the lashes. This mascara is infused with oak extract to nourish the lashes, which can become brittle with everyday makeup wear. The fibre brush is designed to catch every lash, while separating and giving an lengthened look. What’s more, My Favourite Mascara is designed to be removed with just warm water (38 degrees).
This mascara contains lecithin and citric acid.
GOSH UK AW17 24hr Pro Liner £7.99
If you’re read my 2016 project pan posts, or my review of the GOSH Infinity Eyeliner, you’ll know that I’m a big an of GOSH’s eyeliners. The Autumn and Winter collection sees the launch of a new liner in GOSH’s line up, the 24hr Pro Liner. This is a wax based liner that’s been designed to last for up to 24 hours, is waterproof, is perfume and paragon free and has a smudge on the end to create different effects. I’m really excited to try it!
GOSH UK AW17 Growth Serum – Brows £16.99
I’ve always been lacking in the brows department. Genetics really let me down there. Growth serums aren’t a new concept, but one I’ve shed away from them because I just don’t know if they work. It’s great to see that high street brands like GOSH are starting to come out with their own versions.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to try the GOSH Growth Serum, because it contains citric acid.
GOSH UK AW17 Brow Shape & Fill £8.99
The Brow Shape & Fill is inspired by the Maybelline Brow Satin. It’s a a dual ended product, featuring a brow pencil on one end and a powder on the other. These can be used together or individually to create your ideal brow look. There are three shades available in the Brow Shape & Fill line.
Unfortunately, the GOSH Brow Shape & Fill contains Shea Butter, so is not suitable for those with a nut allergy.
GOSH UK AW17 Primer Plus+ Skin Adaptor Anti-Pollution £14.99
A while ago, GOSH discontinued one of their foundations. The reason being that they wanted to reincarnate it and bring out what they considered to be something even better. Enter the Primer Plus+ Skin Adaptor Anti Pollution. This products looks like a foundation with the feel of a tinted moisturiser, while also containing primer properties. Great for pairing down your makeup routine.
The pearls in the Primer Plus+ contains beads that burst when applied and adapt to your skin tone, giving you your perfect shade. This product is marketed as being suitable for all skin colours. However, we discovered that on those with particularly dark skin, the product leaves the skin with a grey cast. The Primer Plus+ can be used alone or with foundation over the top if you feel you need additional coverage or you have particularly dark skin. The oak extract in this product contains antioxidants, which moisturise and smooth the skin.
This product contains citric acid, so may not be suitable for this with eczema.
GOSH UK AW17 Colour Corrector Kit £11.99
Probably the product that I’m most excited about is the Colour Corrector Kit. I’ve always had dark under eye circles that concealer just doesn’t cover alone. The Colour Corrector Kit has been developed to have a thick consistency, which really excites me. I picked up the Makeup Revolution corrector palette a while ago and was shocked at the lack of pigmentation I got from it. I think this is largely due to the thin consistency of the correctors. So I have high hopes that the GOSH Colour Corrector Kit will be just what I’ve been looking for.
GOSH UK AW17 Prime’N Set Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder £9.99
You’ve probably all heard about the Ben Nye Banana Powder. It’s been around for a while now, but isn’t all that easy to get hold of in the UK unless you order online. Luckily for us, some of the high street brands are now coming out with their own versions. A transparent version of this powder already exists in GOSH’s line.
The Prime’N Set Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder is a 2-in-1 powder that can be used alone to provide a little bit of coverage, under foundation as a primer, or over foundation to set.
I’m really excited about this powder. I currently use my MAC MSF Natural on it’s own to even out my skin tone, but this isn’t cheap. A few years ago, I tried to find a high street alternative, but nothing came close. I got frustrated and gave up, feeling like I was wasting money on products that just didn’t perform in the way I wanted them too. I’m really hopeful that the Banana shade will be just what I’ve been looking for. I’ll keep you posted.
GOSH UK AW17 Strobe ‘N Glow Kit £12.99
The Strobe ‘N Glow kits were the first thing that caught my eye from the collection. I think you’ve all probably gathered by now that I love a good highlighter/blusher and palette. There are two shades in the Strobe ‘N Glow Kit line, one Highlight and the other Blush.
GOSH have chosen some gorgeous shades for their Strobe ‘N Glow Kits that are going to work well on a variety of different skin tones. During the presentation, we were shown Blush Strobe ‘N Glow Kit in action, demonstrating draping. A technique I’ve not come across yet. The best way I can describe it is applying blusher using a technique similar to applying bronzer.
GOSH UK AW17 New Lumidrops £7.99
If you’ve read my Lumidrops blusher review, you’ll know how impressed I was with the the blusher version of the Lumidrops. For AW17, GOSH have brought out new shades in their highlighter range of the Lumidrops in Rosegold and Gold. During the presentation, we were told about how the metallic trend is going to be big for the next few years. While I’m not sure whether it’s something I’ll be joining in with, the two new shades in the GOSH Lumidrops range are gorgeous!
Unfortunately, while the Lumidrops blushes don’t contain citric acid, the highlighter version does.
GOSH UK AW17 Lift & Highlight £9.99
I love it when high street brands come up with affordable alternatives to high end products. If you’re a fan of Benefit’s products, you might know where I’m going with. Benefit’s High Brow has long been a staple in many people’s makeup bags. Now, there’s an affordable alternative! While Benefit have both matte and shimmer highlighter pencils available, the GOSH Light & Highlight is a dual ended pencil that containing both. Perfect for travel!
The matte side of the Lift & Highlight contains wheat germ and unfortunately, I have an wheat allergy. While the highlight shade doesn’t, I’d be concerned about having this in my makeup collection and forgetting that I can only use the highlight shade, or mistaking the matte shade for the highlighter. So I won’t be able to keep it.
GOSH UK AW17 Accessibility
The GOSH UK AW17 even took place at the Aquavit restaurant in London. Unfortunately, travel was difficult for me, involving a train into London and then two busses to get to the venue. However, I don’t think there’s anything that GOSH could’ve done to make travelling easier. As everyone came from different directions it would be hard to find a venue that was easy for all those unable to take the tube (wheelchairs and tubes don’t mix well).
The restaurant themselves were very welcoming and accommodating. This time I took my wheelchair and was very glad of this. I found the SS17 event a little tight with my mobility scooter and I suspect this would’ve been the same at the Aquavit. The lighting was a little on the dark, yellow tinted side, but I was able to manage. I’d looked up photos online and spoken to the venue, so was aware that this would be the case. GOSH and Z-PR are always so welcoming and accommodating and I’d like to thank them not only for inviting me, but also for thinking about the accessibility of their venue.
We were kindly given a very generous goody bag with products from the AW17 collection. Keep an eye out for my reviews!
I’d like to thank GOSH UK, Z-PR and Aquavit Restaurant for a fantastic evening.
