I’ve been recently rediscovering outfits that I loved several years ago, before my Gabapentin related weight gain got out of hand. This navy and floral outfit, which I recently wore when we went out for my Father-in-Law’s birthday, is one that I’ve loved for a long time. Now that I can fit back into the skirt and jacket, I know I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of it
The floral skirt was a birthday present from my Mother-in-Law. It’s from New Look and is a great option for spring. Because this floral skirt isn’t figure hugging like the skirt in my grey and black outfit post, it’s possible to wear a pair of leggings underneath without them showing. Ideal for the temperamental spring weather here in the UK.
The navy jacket from Boohoo compliments the New Look skirt beautifully. The 1/2 length sleeves are ideal for wheeling as they don’t get in the way of my hands on my wheels, which also means they don’t get dirty. The cut of the jacket is also fantastic for a seated posture. The back is short, which means I’m not sitting on the jacket and restricting my movement. The tapered front of the jacket is super flattering and stops me from looking short and dumpy.
I’ve worn this navy and floral outfit with a couple of different t-shirt combinations. Here, I’ve opted for a white strappy top, because that’s all I’ve got in my wardrobe at the moment. Previously, I’ve paired this outfit with a cream top with a lace style detail on the décolletage area. This top is now too big for me, since loosing a lot of my Gabapentin weight, so I’ve given it to my Mum. You can see how the cream t-shirt looks with the floral skirt in my Selfridges Beauty Shopper post.
I love how tan looks with navy. I’m not sure why, but it’s a colour combination that I think really works. So I decided to team my outfit with a tan bag and tan shoes, both of which were (another) birthday present from my Mother-in-Law. Doesn’t she have great taste!?! The shoes and bag are both from Next. The bag is unbelievably useful as a wheelchair user, because it slips round my waist. I find cross body bags can be a little restrictive when self-propelling OR the strap slides off my shoulder regularly. So it’s nice not to have to worry about this. I’m on the look out for other smalls shoulder bags that have longer straps, so please let me know if you see any!
I have to admit that these shoes would be a disappointment if I needed to be able to walk in them. Despite having the most comfortable sole possible, with cushioning under the toes, the backs of the shoes pinch my heels. While this isn’t ideal for walking it does have an advantage with my wheelchair because I can’t put my feet flat on my footplate. As a result, slip on shoes that I find most comfortable to walk in don’t stay when I’m on the balls of my feet (think flip-flops on tip toes).
I love the neckline the white t-shirt and navy jacket create. To enhance this further, I added my Jewellery Box Bird On Branch Necklace, which I won in the West Midlands Blogger Meet raffle. This is necklace is a great spring addition to any outfit.
