I’ve been wanting to show you this shell pink bar back jumper * since I visited The Fort, Birmingham. But unfortunately, I couldn’t. I bought the last size small in the shop and it had a mark on it. Dan and I knew this mark would come out when washed (or I wouldn’t have bought it), but our washing machine broke shortly after our trip to The Fort for their The Fort Theory of Shopping Campaign. So I haven’t been able to wash or wear this jumper until now.

It was actually Dan who spotted this shell pink bar back jumper, when we were in the New Look at The Fort. I was surprised and pleased that Dan was wanting to get involved with the shopping experience, rather than just pushing me round. I’d been a little concerned that he wouldn’t enjoy himself, but he did! Usually, I’m a Lone Savvy Shopper, but with me needing help out and about at the moment, Dan and I were trying to channel our inner Power Shopping Couple. And we didn’t do a bad job of it!
I was looking for chunky knit, long line, baggy jumpers, when we visited The Fort. It was early on in our pregnant, but I was developing some tell tale tummy podge, and trying desperately to hide it until after our 12 week scan! I was looking for jumpers that would last me through the majority of pregnancy (so baggy jumpers) and that I could then wear post-pregnancy. This shell pink bar back jumper fit the bill perfectly! I love the colour and the bar detail at the back gives a little extra interest.
My baggy chunky knit jumpers have been a staple for hospital appointments, as they’re comfy, cosy and easy to manage for scans and having blood pressure taken.
As all of my knitwear outfits this year have involved jeggings, I thought I’d switch things up with my shell pink chunky knit jumper and pair it with leggings and a skirt. My leggings, as always are from Select. £7.99 for two and really comfy – can’t go wrong!
My skirt is an inexpensive one from Primark, that I bought several years ago. In all honesty, I didn’t think I’d get as much wear out of it as I do! I bought it when I was working in TKMaxx and had to wear all black. I liked that the pattern on the skirt added texture and something a little different to my all black work outfits. I’ve ended up wearing this skirt lots, as it goes with so much. It’s also thicker than most skirt, so great for the colder months. And what I hadn’t anticipated was that it would be really comfy for pregnancy! It’s really easy to wear underneath my bump.
I love how burgundy and pink look together, so I’ve added my burgundy and pink Dorothy Perkins infinity scarf to this outfit. This is possibly my favourite scarf. I love the design and burgundy pattern. I hadn’t realised that the pink in the scarf and my shell pink bar back jumper were the exact same colour until I put the scarf on. Match made in heaven! I feel that this jumper really benefits from having something round the neck. I can’t quite place why though. The neckline maybe?
As I still fit into my regular coat, I’ve decided to pair my shell pink bar back jumper with my brown boots from New Look. These were a sale buy at the end of last winter and I’m really glad I found them! I like the contrast these have against my black leggings, though I’ll happily switch to my black boots with this outfit when I need to move into my grey maternity coat.
Following the pink and burgundy theme, my lipstick of choice for this outfit is Rimmel 107 with the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Obsession. I love this lip combination, it’s one of my favourites for the colder months.
You can find this shell pink bar back jumper on newlook.com for £19.99. Unfortunately, the shell pink doesn’t seem to be available online but they have five other gorgeous shades to choose from.
I’m really sorry that I wasn’t able to get a photo of the back. I took one, but didn’t realise that the background was in focus rather than me and the jumper.
What do you think of this outfit? How would you style a shell pink bar back jumper?
