I’ve wanted to review the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina for a while now, but I’ve had to hold off until now so that I could give you all the details I wanted to. This’ll make sense as you read the review I promise. I picked this liquid lipstick up in January, with a gift card I was given for Christmas. This was a purchase very much inspired by Ting from The Ting Thing’s Instagram Account.

I wanted a goes-with-everything shade that I could wear when we go out for dinner without having to worry that it’ll come off. I’d heard great things about the formula of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, and I knew Patina was a popular shade. So after swatching it with some of the other shades from the range, I decided to take the plunge.
Something I didn’t realise when I was swatching shades is that often liquid lipsticks change a little in colour as they dry. So the shade I thought Patina was on first watching wasn’t exactly what I ended up with. I feel like it starts a little more pink toned and becomes a slightly cooler shade as it drys. I still like the shade, but it’s not quite what I’d hoped for. Oh well, we live and learn.
In terms of longevity, I’ve been blown away by the staying power of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina. I’ve worn it to several family meals and haven’t had to touch up once. What’s more, it stayed perfectly in place through a bout of morning sickness, something my waterproof mascara failed to manage!
Now, it’s taken me a long time to dip my toes in the liquid lipstick water, because my lips are just so dry. I was concerned that a liquid lipstick would be too painful to wear and leave my lips requiring a weeks worth of TLC to recover. This was certainly the experience I had with the first liquid lipstick I tried. So for me, it’s particularly important that a liquid lipstick be comfortable to wear.

I have to say that I was very pleased with how comfortable the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina is to wear. It contains vitaline E and Avocado Oil, which is intended to hydrate an nourish the lips. Once applied, the liquid lipsticks leaves a very slightly tacky feel to the lips. I don’t find this annoying and it definitely stops me feeling like I need to reach for a lip balm!
My only complaint is that it smelt bad. So much so that I wondered whether the one I’d picked up was off and considered taking it back. This smell has lessened over time.
I’ve been so impressed with my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina. I definitely want to get some more shades. I haven’t tried many liquid lipsticks, but this one has been my favourite. Closely followed by the GOSH liquid Matte Lips.
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks can be purchased from boots.com for £16.
