I haven’t written a makeup post in what feels like forever, so today I decided I would bring you my Benefit Roller Lash mascara review to share my thoughts with you. I’ve always wanted to try the They’re Real mascara, but haven’t been able to as it contains citric acid, an ingredient I’m allergic to. So when I saw this mascara free with a magazine I headed to my nearest Benefit counter to check the ingredients, before heading back to purchase it as a free gift.

I have reasonable length lashes, but the thing I really struggle with is getting a curl. Despite using eyelash curlers, there are mascaras out there that just won’t hold that curl. Up until I used the Roller Lash mascara, my holy grail product had been the Dior Iconic Overcurl. I’ll tell you now, the Roller Girl isn’t quite as good as the Iconic Overcurl, but the Dior is £6 more expensive. The Iconic Overcurl makes the lashes look longer & fuller than the Roller Lash.
So, some more specifics about Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara.
The brush is plastic. I don’t usually get on with plastic wands, preferring the old school bristles brushes. The Roller Girl wand was an exception to this rule though. I always use eyelash curlers & mostly gravitate towards curved wands for the additional help they give in getting my lashes to stay curled. I like that there are different length of bristles, which makes catching & coating & shaping the eyelashes easier.
One coat of mascara on the top lashes & one on the bottom
The formula isn’t too wet, but enough for me to be able to apply two coats to my lashes smoothly. When I apply this mascara, I rotate the wand clockwise while making small zig-zagging motions. This seems to provide a good amount of coverage to my lashes. The mascara holds a curl throughout the day, which is just what I want & is dark enough to show through my precision tinted lenses. I have sensitive eyes & don’t experience any problems when wearing the Roller Lash mascara.

Though I won’t repurchase this mascara at the moment, I would definitely pick it up in the future when I have a little more disposable income. The Benefit Roller Lash mascara can be purchased from Boots or Debenhams for £19.50.

I tried that, but it flaked badly into my eyes. I’m wondering if it was old when I bought it as it came as part of a set. I’ve never got on well with the Bourjois mascaras, but will have to give them another try! Xx

Looks like a good mascara, but it is quite expensive. I’ll probably wait until the price comes down.

Yes, I don’t blame you Joey, I certainly won’t be purchasing it at full price when I have drugstore mascaras that work nicely, even if they aren’t quite as good as this one. Xx

I’ve seen so many positive reviews on this mascara, it is out of my budget too atm! I’ve just got the Maybelline Lash Sensational though which is apparently a dupe and I love it :)

Ooo… Thanks for letting me know! I’ll definitely check the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara out now, I’ve had my eye on it for a while so it’ll be interesting to see how they compare. Xx

Using a lash curler just freaks me out haha, the mascara looks great on you! I think the price is way too pricey though.

Oh bless you, I couldn’t manage without mine. It is pricy & I wouldn’t buy it until I had more money coming in each month. I’m glad I got to try it without having to pay the price tag! Xx

I really enjoy this product and find it’s a great everyday mascara when you want a little something more on the lashes.

I completely agree! I like my lashes more defined to show through my glasses & it works really well. It’s too expensive for me at the moment, but I know I’ll be buying it in the future. Xx

I’ve heard that Maybelline do a similar one. Benefit’s is too expensive for me at the moment, so I’ll be heading for the Maybelline stand to replace it! XX
