Styling A Burgundy Monsoon Skirt

This is an outfit that I’ve been planning on sharing for some time. But then other occasions have come along, with other outfits, and it’s been pushed back again and again. So today, I’m really excited to share with you how I style my burgundy Monsoon skirt.

You might be surprised to learn that I picked up this burgundy Monsoon skirt from a charity shop. That’s right, a piece from Monsoon was in a charity shop! There’s definitely an art form to buying from a charity shop, something I’m sure I’ll talk about in another blog post.

My burgundy Monsoon skirt is made from a corduroy material, with sewn on flower details that are embellished with beads. I’ve had this skirt for a long time and it’s been a firm favourite in my wardrobe. A line skirts are flattering as they hide my tree trunk thighs, which look even bigger when sitting in my wheelchair!

I tend to style this skirt in just one way; with a black top. I love the way black really lets the burgundy Monsoon skirt be the star piece of the outfit. However, I don’t want my black tops to be boring. But with the button details on the shoulder, my black long sleeved jumper from Primark is the perfect option.

When I’m using my wheelchair, I like to have my tops over my skirt or trousers. I don’t find that tucking tops in is a flattering look when you’re sat down. As a wheelchair user, this is a big consideration!

This outfit looks great with my black Chelsea boots and my black heeled boots. It’s easy to imagine how these would look with black leggings and my burgundy Monsoon skirt. So today, I’ve decided to pair the skirt with my tan boots from New Look. I really like how the tan colour compliments the burgundy shades of the skirt.

What do you think of this outfit? How would you style this burgundy Monsoon skirt?

    • Thank you so much! It can be tricky hunting through mediocre things in the charity shops, but it’s worth it when you find something like this! Xx
