Dear Father Christmas,
I’m so sorry I haven’t written to you in a while. It really doesn’t seem like 20 years. I hope you, Mrs Clause, Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer are all well.
I was wondering whether I could ask for something special this year, seeing as I’ve been particularly good. It’s a big ask I know, but may I have a redo of 2016 for Christmas please?
As I’m sure you are aware, this year has seen some drastic changes both here and in America. Lots of vulnerable people are very scared about the consequences these changes will bring. I’m not sure whether re-doing 2016 would change anything, but knowing what we do now, at least people would know what they’re signing up for. I say this thinking particularly of the £350 million pounds that UK voters were told would go to the NHS if we were to leave the EU. Only for this promise to be retracted hours after the results.

If it’s not possible for us to redo 2016, I completely understand. I know I’m asking for a lot. If a redo of 2016 isn’t possible, may I have a crystal ball please? I’d like to have some idea of what to expect, so that I can make plans to keep my loved ones safe.
I know asking for a working crystal ball is also asking a lot. If this isn’t possible, may I have my Personal Independence Payment sorted please? I applied last January abut am still waiting for a tribunal date. I can’t buy any of the aids that I need without this money.
Sorting my PIP may be too big an ask. If you can’t sort it for me, may I have a safe wheelchair please? I’m not sure what’s wrong with mine, but wheelchair services are trying to fob me off by saying that I’m weaker on my right side. I’m not and my physio agrees with me. I’ve also started having the same problem on the other side, so this explanation wouldn’t fit. The clicking/cracking/crunching sound is also concerning me. It doesn’t have to be a new wheelchair, I’d be more than happy for you to fix my current wheelchair if that’s possible.
Your elves are very clever, but I understand if wheelchairs are not their specialism. If it’s not possible to have a safe wheelchair, please may I have some makeup? I haven’t been able to treat myself to any for a year and a half, because of the PIP situation.
I hope Christmas eve goes without a hitch for you. Thank you for making so many people, children in particular, very happy.
All the best,
Tania

Thank you so much Jasmine! I hope you’ve had a fantastic Christmas and new year. I’m crossing my fingers that 2017 will be a good year for us all. We deserve it after 2016! I’ve made some progress with my wheelchair, my wheelchair therapist has got involved. She’s been very supportive and listened to me when others haven’t. I’m just waiting for a clinic appointment now to see what can be done to fix it/if I need a new chair. Xx
