Nails are a part of my beauty routine that I really struggle with. Most of my nail varnishes chip within 48 hours. One or two will last an extra 12 hours or so, but these are rare. I’ve had gel nails professionally done a couple of times for special occasions, but there’s no way I can justify the cost regularly. When I spotted imPress Nails, I knew I had to try them.

All products marked with * have been gifted to me for consideration. More information can be found in my full disclaimer.
I was sent two different packets of imPress Nails, one set were in Swept Away* a champagne shade with gold & champagne glitter accent nails. There were 30 nails in total, 6 of which were the accent nails. I also received the Medium length of Behind The Scenes*, a mid pink shade. This set comes with 24 nails.
I’ve used imPress Nails for special occasions for a few years now & I think they’re are a fantastic concept. The nails are press on; they come with the sticky backing already applied. So all you need to do is pick the right sizes, prep your fingers, peel the backing off & apply the nail. That’s it, done! When I first tried imPress Nails, I was very impressed. So much so that I purchased more, including some to keep as back ups for when I have an event to go to at short notice.

Before imPress Nails, I’d tried one other stick on brand, but had problems with them. It’s actually a funny story. For my school’s prize giving event, I decided I wanted to use stick on nails on. I must’ve been 15 or 16 at the time. As well as collecting a couple of awards, I was playing in the school wind band. I put the stick on nails (no idea which brand they were) on, but they didn’t last long. I had nails pinging off as I was playing my oboe! It was so embarrassing. This all may sound a little odd, but I think I have rather unusually shaped finger nails. They seem to have much more of an arch to them than other people’s. So I just assumed that press on nails weren’t for me.
When I first heard about imPress Nails, I was desperate to try them, but also I was concerned about the shape of my nails. Would the same thing happen again? I’m so glad I pushed past this worry – stick on nails have clearly come a long way since I was a teenager!

Impress nails last a minimum of 3 days on me. The only reason the Swept Away nails didn’t last longer than three days was becauseI was cooking with chicken & egg. The nails had begun to come away a little bit at the tip, leaving a gap. The nails were still well & truly stuck on, so I have no concern that they would’ve stayed put. It’s just that the juices of the egg & chicken got into the gaps, between the false nails & my own. It wouldn’t have been sanitary for me to keep them on & walk around with egg & raw chicken under my nails (ew!), so they had to come off.
imPress Nails come in lots of different designs & lengths, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. I’ve found imPress Nails so comfortable to wear. With more than 10 nails in each packet, you really can find the best fit for your own nails. This also means that you can slip the packaging in your bag, just incase one of the nails comes off. Which for me is very reassuring.

Previously I’ve used Holla! a pretty pink with a mix of black lace flower & animal print designs, a burgundy shade that I can’t find the mane of & Rock It, a traditional French Manicure style. I also have some imPress Nails as back ups for future events. These include Rock It, Wink Wink, a french manicure with a flower design & One Shine Day (not shown) which is a French tip design using silver glitter rather than the traditional white tip. I’ve found that I like the short nail length the most.

imPress Nails range from £7.99-£8.99 & can be purchased from Boots.com. You can also check out all the different designs at impressmanicure.com. Do be careful if you’re photosensitive though, as the main image on the imPress Nails website is made up of lots of tiny black spots, which caused me problems with my basilar type & hemiplegic migraine.

Great review, as always :) I’ve always been curious about press-on nails, but thought they might fall off quite easily which put me off buying them. I’d love to give them a try for any last-minute events, when I haven’t had time to do my nails, but I don’t think I’d rely on them for everyday wear. I particularly love the look of the Swept Away set!

Thank you so much Alice! These definitely don’t fall off easily. I’m assuming that the brand ones I tried as a teenager were either of poor quality or the glue & design have been very much improved in the past 15 years. I’ve got a set of Kiss Nails to try & review, so it will be interesting to find out how they compare to imPress. Xx
I’ve never tried these and it’s probably about 30 years since I tried stick on nails ha ha, they do look good though and are worth a look xx

I take it you weren’t impressed with the quality 30 years ago then? Haha They’re fab for me, particularly with the difficulties I have with nail polish chipping. Dan has just booked us a holiday & I’ll definitely be taking some of the nails I put into my draw with me. Xx
I think I’ve seen something similar here in Canada but I’m not sure if it’s the same brand. My nails are brittle recently and have been peeling off at the tip, no idea what’s causing it though but I haven’t been able to paint my nails because of it. This sounds like a lovely way to make my nails look nice for special occasions.

That’s such a coincidence – my nails are really brittle at the ends too. The layers start to split & crack. It looks awful. It’s always worse when I’ve worn nail polish, even if I take the polish off before it’s chipped. I haven’t had any problems with these causing peeling though. Which I half expected, seeing as you peel the nails off when you want to remove them. Xx
I love imPress nails, they make life so much easier!

They really do! I’m looking forward to trying the press on nails from Kiss soon to see how they compare. Xx
