My skin has not been great recently, as a result of coming off my medication. I’ve been so exhausted that doing a weekly skincare treatment has been the last thing on my mind, which hasn’t helped. The oncoming colder weather has prompted me to do something about this, so I thought I would share with you my skincare saviours & the routine I use.
The ‘Saviour’ Products
No.7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Face Exfoliator £11
With my dry, eczema prone skin, I have often struggled to find an exfoliator that isn’t too rough on my skin. I’ve come back to this one time & time again. The Aluminium-oxide micro-crystals are small & not too rough on my sensitive skin. My skin feels soft & looks brighter after using this exfoliator, without no aggravation.
Superdrug Simple Pure Hydrating Serum £2.69
This product has been a recent addition to my routine, having been recommended to me by Ting from The Ting Thing. Ting raves about this serum, so if you want to hear her thoughts on it, you can find her review here. I found this serum to be thicker than any other I’ve tried, which I like. It feels light & nourishing on the skin. There is an extremely mild generic cream scent, but this is barely detectable.
No.7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask For Dry/Very Dry Skin £12.50
This is a gentle but very hydrating mask that has a mild cooling effect & feels soothing on the skin. The mask comprises of two main elements – it looks like a gel & a cream, but I can’t find any information about them. These are mixed together when the product is dispensed. I love the packaging design, with it’s plunger like pump that ensures that no product is wasted.
Vichy LiftActive DermSource Eyes cream £23
This eye cream is a fairly new addition to my routine. I started to notice fine lines under my eyes so wanted to add an anti-wrinkle cream to my arsenal of products. I actually use this cream every morning & have found it works well before makeup – something my La Roche Posay Hydraphase eye cream doesn’t. This is only the second eye cream I have used, so I don’t have much to compare it to. The product contains caffeine to brighten the under eye area. It has a thick consistency that distributes evenly on the delicate under eye area smoothly & without tugging. A little goes a long way with this eye cream.
My Weekly Routine
Step 1: Cleanse the face with the La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Milk.
Step 2: Tone the face with the L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water.
Step 3: Exfoliate the face with the No.7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion. Rinse off.
Step 4: Pat the Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum into the face. Leave to sink in for a minute.
Step 5: Apply the No.7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask & leave for 5 minutes.
Step 6: Remove the remainder of the mask with L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water.
Step 7: Pat the Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum into the face. Leave to sink in for a minute.
Step 8: Apply the La Roche Posay Hydrophase Moisturiser to the face.
Step 9: Apply the Vichy LiftActive DermSource Eyes cream
More information on the additional products in his routine can be found in My Skincare Staples post.

I love a skincare post. Save my Skin, Tania, it’s kicking off and I look terrible *sobs* I’ve been loving the Caudalie exfoliator and The Body Shop camomile cleansing oil lately, though. They seem to be helping, but like you, medication change – not a fan!

Oh sweetie! Medication does such strange thinks to our skin. Mine’s gone the other way now & is really dry! I really hope yours settles down & am glad you’ve found something that is helping, even if it isn’t completely sorting the problem for you. Xx

I love the sound of that No7 mask and I haven’t tried any of their skincare products before, so that’ll be popped into my basket next time I’m in Boots! I much prefer using liquid exfoliators, rather than manual scrubs, as I find them too harsh. My favourite is the Clarins Gentle Brightening Toner – it literally works miracles to give you smooth, glowing skin and is well worth the splurge!

Ooo… Do let me know what you think of the mask! I love it. I’m not too great with the types of exfoliators available. I’ve only tried the No.7 Brush Cleanser & didn’t get on well with that. I’ll be doing a bit more research into this area now! Xx
