Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser Review

I have to admit that, when it comes to skincare, I’m very much a ‘find what works and stick to it’ kinda gal. With my sensitive, allergy prone skin, I can’t risk trying new products. So when one of my skincare staples becomes scarce or is discontinued, it feels like an uphill struggle to find something to take it’s place. When my Superdrug Simply Pure Light Emulsion Moisturiser became impossible to get hold of, I begrudgingly went on the hunt for an alternative and was very lucky to stumble upon a better moisturiser for my skin – The Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser.

Please note: The ingredients for this moisturiser have been changed. It now contains citric acid, which can aggravate eczema. As a result, I am no longer using this moisturiser. I am not using the BYOMA Moisturising Gel Cream in spring and summer, along with the Rich version in autumn and winter. Reviews coming soon.

Apart from a dalliance with premium skincare several years ago, I’ve very much been all about the affordable products. With all my money going into making the Nuneaton Sling Library the best it can be, this isn’t going to change any time soon. So my budget for my new moisturiser was a maximum of £10. With this price point, my multiple allergies and my sensitive, eczema prone skin, I thought that finding a new moisturiser was going to be a long, difficult process. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Previously, I’ve not had a great experience with Simple skincare products. They’ve either had ingredients I’m allergic to in them or they’ve just not worked well for my skin. Note, when I say previously, I mean many, many years ago. By chance, I went into Superdrug when they had an offer on Simple products. So I figured I might as well check the ingredients of their moisturisers, on the off chance that I might find one I could try. To my surprise, I found not one, but two moisturisers that were suitable for my skin type and didn’t contain any ingredients that I’m allergic to – the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser and the Hydrating Light Moisturiser.

I was really impressed with the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser from first application. It’s creamy texture is rich and hydrating, giving my skin just what it needs. My skin feels soft and supple. What’s more, I’ve had to use significantly fewer applications of my aqueous cream to the patch of eczema on my face since using this moisturiser! While some thicker, creamier moisturisers can leave the skin feeling greasy or clogged, this is not one of those.

Enriched with Pro-vitamin B5 and Bisabolol, the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser soothes my skin. With no artificial perfumes, colour, dye or harsh chemicals, this is going to be a staple in my skincare routine for as long as it’s available. Please don’t discontinue it, Simple!
