Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara Review

I’ve been on the hunt for my holy grail mascara since I started wearing makeup at the age of 13. It’s really only been in the past 5 years or so that I’ve made headway with this. I think it’s taken such a long time because my lashes, though long are also VERY straight, so working out the best way to give them a curl that then stays has been my biggest difficulty. Because of my precision tinted lenses, I also like them to be as bold as possible with lots of volume. My eyes need all the help they can get standing out from behind the dark green colour. So I thought I’d share my journey to find my ideal mascara with you. Today is the turn of the Smashbox Full Exposure mascara, a product I’ve had varied experiences with!

I first bought this mascara in a kit of minis a couple of Christmases ago. When I came to use it I ended up with mascara flakes in my eyes. I wasn’t impressed by this! Luckily, I hadn’t opened any of the other products, so was able to return the set & get my money back. I bought the Double Exposure palette when it first came out, which came with a Full Exposure mascara sample. I figured ‘what the hell!’ I might as well give it another try! I’m really glad I did. I’ve gotten on so much better with this Full Exposure mascara, both in terms of it’s quality & the way it defines my eyelashes.

The Smashbox Full Exposure mascara gives the deep black shade I love. It also gives great volume and definition to my lashes. It holds a curl all day & doesn’t flake, unlike the first one I tried. It removes easily with makeup remover, which is fab for me as my eyes get sore easily so I don’t like to have to spend too long removing my eye makeup. I like to apply two coats of which ever mascara I’m using  to my upper lashes, to give extra emphasis to my eyes. The Smashbox Full Exposure mascara applies a second coat with ease, there’s no clumping at all! I curl my eyelashes with the No.7 Eyelash Curler (which I’ll bring you a review on soon as I LOVE it!) & the Full Exposure mascara holds this curl really well. The brush is made with natural bristles rather than plastic & I tend to prefer natural bristle brushes. The only negative I have about this mascara is that it’s easy to get mascara on my eyelids because of the the large brush. Not as bas as the Urban Decay Perversion mascara which I have so far NEVER been able to apply without getting mascara on my eyelid, but it does still happen from time to time. When I do manage to get mascara on my eye lid though it removes easily with a cotton bud. Not something you’re able to do with the Urban Decay Perversion mascara.

Unfortunately, because my memory is bad at the moment, I forgot to take photos after just one coat of mascara, so the photos have 2 coats on the top lashes & one on the bottom.

The Smashbox Full Exposure mascara is £19.50, which is out of my price range at the moment, but I would consider buying it again in the future & can be purchased from smashbox.co.uk & boots.com.
