Ok, so this outfit is a little out of the box for me. I’m not sure whether it’s my age, my larger thighs or a combination of the two. What ever the reason, this outfit is a little out of my comfort zone. Never the less, I like it so I thought I’d share it with you! So if you want to wear dungaree shorts outside of the summer months, or if you don’t want to show your legs off, this outfit is for you!
A few years ago, I really wanted a pair of dungarees but I couldn’t find a style I liked. I came across these dungaree shorts in Primark and loved them! Only problem was, I didn’t fully consider that I’d need to bare my legs on order to wear them. While it doesn’t really bother me to show my legs in the height of summer (if I’m honest I’d go out in my underwear or swimwear if I could in order to stay cool), during the spring and autumn I’m not comfortable showing quite so much leg. The weather in the UK is unpredictable. This means the chances of me getting cold with dungaree shorts on in the spring and autumn is high.
To get round this conundrum, I decided to pair my dungaree shorts with a pair of leggings. This keeps my legs covered and warm. My favourite leggings are from Select. They have various length options and are always on a ‘2 for £8’ offer. For me, Select’s leggings are the most comfortable and give the best fit for my shape. They also last well, particularly considering that a single pair retails for just £6. Here, I’ve work my Chelsea boots from New Look, but this outfit could also be worn with shoes or a pair of sandals.
I could have chosen almost any top to pair with my dungaree shorts, but one of my favourite options is this black lace number from New Look. I think the combination of dressy lace and casual denim works well together and I like how the straps look over the lace.
During the spring and autumn, it’s so important to have a jacket to hand. To give this outfit an edgy and to the black and denim look, I added my faux leather jacket from River Island.
I’m also very pleased to say that I have my wheelchair back! Yay!
What do you think of how I’ve styled my dungaree shorts? What would you pair them with?
