How To Make A 3D Christmas Tree Biscuit

Firstly, I have a big apology. I had hoped to have baked and constructed another 3D Christmas tree biscuit to get some better photos, but unfortunately my fatigue is high at the moment. So instead, I have photos from when I made these with my Mum, sister and 6 year old niece. It was a great activity for us all to do together.

To make a 3D Christmas tree biscuit, you will need your favourite biscuit recipe. For our 3d Christmas tree biscuit, we made short bread. I don’t think I’d use a shortbread recipe next time though, as I didn’t really enjoy it.

You will also need an assortment of star cutters, of different sizes. These will be used to make your 3D Christmas tree biscuit structure. You will need something to stick the biscuits together. We used icing. The final thing that you will need is any decorations you want for your tree. We used icing and silver balls, as I’m allergic to food colourings, but you can use what ever you wish.

Prepare your star shaped biscuits following your biscuit recipe. Once your star shaped biscuits are out of the oven and cool, it’s time for the fun to begin.

You’ll want to start with the biggest star shaped biscuits at the bottom. I arranged my 3d Christmas tree biscuit in it’s entirety before sticking any of the biscuits together. This way, I knew what the finished look would be.

Take two of your biggest star biscuits an lay them one on top of the other, so that you can see both of the star’s points. Once you’re happy with how the stars look together, take some of your sticking agent (icing) and secure the two biscuits together. Continue until you have all of your star biscuits arranged how you want them and stuck together. Now it’s time to decorate.

You can be as inventive as you’d like with decorating your 3D Christmas tree biscuit. Let your imagination run wild!

An there you have it, a 3D Christmas tree biscuit! These are fantastic to make with children or to give as presents. I’m going to be making some closer to Christmas for my older sister and her family as their Christmas present. When we made our 3D Christmas tree biscuit, we also decorated 2D Christmas tree biscuits to accompany them.
