Affordable Woven Wrap Brands

If you’re just starting out on your babywearing journey, particularly if you’re wanting to try woven wraps, you probably don’t want to spend a lot of money incase you find that it isn’t the right babywearing option for you. You may also fall into the same category as me, in that you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a single wrap just for it to be vomited on, washed several hundred times, trailed through puddles when wrapping outside and more. So, the aim of this post is to share some affordable woven wrap brands with you!

Baby Monkey Symphony Woven Wrap, babywearing has, newborn woven wrap carries for beginners, affordable woven wrap,

So that we’re all on the same page, my definition of an ‘affordable brand’ is one where the majority of their size 6 wraps cost £100 or less new – since size 6 is the most common base size. This might sound a lot, but lots of brands cost more than this, some more than twice the price.

Affordable Woven Wrap Brands: Baby Monkey

I’m starting with Baby Monkey, because they’re a brand that don’t get enough recognition. If you’ve read my Baby Monkey Symphony Woven Wrap review, you’ll know just how much this brand and the wonderful people behind it, mean to me. Not only are they lovely people, their wraps are brilliant! With lots of beautiful designs and colour options to choose from, there’s something for everyone from this brand.

I’ve also recently discovered that Baby Monkey’s Cotton Shade Collection wraps have a graduated GSM, with a heavier weight (300gsm) in the middle of the wrap, compared to the edges, which are a medium weight (250gsm). This is something that I’ve not seen any other brand do and I’m intrigued to see how this contributes to the wrap’s qualities.

I’ve found my Symphony and Unicorn (review coming soon) wraps to be pull resistant – so far, I’ve not had to fix pulled threads on either of them and they’re easy care, so don’t require any extra time or effort to get them clean.

Affordable Woven Wrap Brands: Yaro

Yaro are a brand that I stumbled across while browsing a few online babywearing retailers and I’m so glad I did! The first Yaro I bought was a plain natty (natural fibre without dye) size 7. It was soft, mouldable and easy to use. From there, I fell in love with two of their designs in particular – La Vita and Elvish.

Only one of my Yaro wraps has been bought new, so my experiences of breaking in Yaro wraps is limited. However, I’ve found my La Vita to be soft and mouldable from first use. After just a few wears, I considered it broken in. Breaking in a wrap is something worth considering when making a woven wrap purchase. Particularly as a beginner. You don’t want to end up struggling with a beastly thick wrap that needs significant breaking in when learning to wrap, as this is likely to put you off before you’ve really got started.

I will just add that Yaro wraps tend to be wider than most. So if this is something you aren’t keen on, Yaro might not be the brand for you.

Affordable Woven Wrap Brands: Lenny Lamb

If you like variety, then Lenny Lamb are likely going to be the brand for you! With a wide range of wraps with different weights, designs, colours, fibres and price points, there’s something for everyone from this brand. I’ve been amazed at the number of new releases that they’ve come out with in the 9 months or so that I’ve been involved in the woven wrap world.

Some of Lenny Lamb’s woven wraps push the boundaries of what I’d consider affordable. However, these are the ones with more complex blends, including wool, silk and glitter. Saying this, the majority of their size 6 woven wraps come in at £100 or under. Plus, they have a ‘basics’ rang that rivals brands like Little Frog in terms of budget.

I have a few wraps from Lenny Lamb’s Colors Of… line and love them! The design and colour options really spoke to me, then I found out that Colors Of Mystery (greyscale in colour) was released on Elise’s due date. So when one came up for sale on eBay, I nabbed it.

I haven’t found breaking in any of my Lenny Lamb wraps difficult, but I’ve got a limited experience of the brand. It’s likely that their heavier weight wraps will take a little more work, but this is true of most wraps with a high gramge per square meter (GSM).

Affordable Woven Wrap Brands: Little Frog

The most affordable of the woven wrap brands is Little Frog. Their aesthetic isn’t to my taste, so I’ve only tried one for their wraps. Unfortunately, it’s wrap qualities weren’t to my taste either. I found Amethyst Stripes to be rather slippery, The lack of grip is likely due to the weave. Some people love wraps that glide, but as a beginner trying to wrap a baby writhing around because of her cow’s milk protein allergy, I found it challenging.

While my limited experience of Little Frog woven wraps hasn’t been brilliant, they’re a brand that are worth mentioning in this category. Little Frog are the most affordable brand on the market, with the exception of Lenny Lamb’s Basic’s line, which are comparable in price.

Affordable Woven Wrap Brands: Sycha Slings

Sycha Slings are a UK based woven wrap brand with two lines to choose from. Sally wanted to create good, all round woven wraps that are affordable to allow as many people as possible to babywear, regardless of their financial situation. This is something I feel very strongly about. Sycha Slings’ main line wraps range from £64-85 (depending on size) and are 100% cotton. Plus, 5% of each sale goes to charity!
