I was tagged by the lovely Joanna from My Pink Rambles to do The Beauty Confessions TAG, so if you want to know what my favourite products, what I struggle with & what I wish I knew about beauty, keep reading!
1. What is your biggest beauty product addiction (lippies, blushes, highlighter, bronzer, mascara, etc.)?
I love palettes! Whether they’re eyeshadow palettes, blusher palettes or a combination. I don’t like palettes with cream products in, so always stick to powder only. They’re just so convenient for travel & allow you to try a variety of shades from a brands range at a cheaper price than if you bought the individual products.

2. How many products from your addiction do you have?
I have 60 cheek, face & eye palettes. To me an eyeshadow palette consists of 5 or more shadows & a face/cheek palette has 3 or more products.
3. What is one type of beauty product you hate (highlighters, hairspray, etc.)?
Fake tan. I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s because my skin is so pale… My eczema & dry prone skin might be putting me off trying it too for fear of a patchy application. I use a tinted moisturiser on my legs during the summer as they are pale as anything & don’t match the rest of my body, but I’ve never used a fake tan & have no desire to do so any time soon.
4. What has been your biggest challenge in beauty (e.g. a technique you learned or learning a beauty comfort zone)?
Learning how best to compliment my features with my precision tinted lenses. These have been a barrier for me because they are so dark it’s hard to see my eyes through them. I’ve spent quite a while trying to find different ways to bring my eyes out from behind my glasses. I’ve discovered that black eyeliner & either glitter or shimmery light coloured shadows help this.

5. What is one comfort zone you don’t ever think you’ll leave?
Hmmm… This is a hard one. I don’t think I’ll ever wear foundation regularly. My comfort zone for my base is my MAC MSF Natural, as I’m very lucky that I really don’t need a lot of coverage on my face. I find foundation great for special occasions, but I wouldn’t like to wear it every day.
6. What is one beauty thing you suck at (e.g. cat eye or taking your makeup off at the end of the day)?
I don’t think there’s anything I totally suck at, at least not anything I want to be able to do. I’d probably suck at fake tan! Of the things I do want to be able to do, I’m still working on winged liner & my brows. They’re ok, but they definitely need work for where I want them to be. If you have any tips or product recommendations to help me get my eyeliner & brow game on, let me know!
7. What is one thing in beauty that you don’t understand the hype (technique, trend, etc.)?
I still don’t really understand the difference between strobing & highlighting. Isn’t strobing just high intensity highlighting!?! I don’t understand the appeal of waxing. It doesn’t seem to get all my leg hairs! Maybe that’s because the person who did mine wasn’t very good? You can read more about my waxing experience in my Things I Wish I’d Known About Waxing post.

I have my legs waxed and I love it, I can’t shave my own legs for obvious reasons lol and Simon and the girls don’t like doing it in case the cut me so I have them waxed, I have been going to the salon for 19 years so already knew the girls there before my medical problems but they are fabulous and help me too, I had mine done on the 4th Jan and they are due again but I only have them done around 3/4 times a year, it may have been the person who did them for you, but I love it :) I suck at liquid liner lol but having hooded eyes I can’t wear it anyway :) loved this tag I might do it too if thats ok? xx

I think it might have been the person who did them. I had a bikini wax at the same time & she did the top way lower than I would have liked but did nothing to the sizes at all! I couldn’t understand it & had to go back & complain. The salon I had it done at has now gone out of business too, which is suspect! Xx
I agree with the strobing thing, it’s just highlighting re-named!

So glad it’s not just me thinking this! Xx
I really enjoyed reading this post :) Wow, 60 palettes! Do you have a favourite or a few favourites?
http://www.raiin-monkey.blogspot.com
Thanks lovely! I have a few favourites. The UD Naked palettes, the Chocolate Bar & Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palettes are probably my most reached for eyeshadow palettes. I love my Nars blusher palettes too! Xx
Wow. I can’t believe you have 60 palettes. That’s an impressive collection.

I know, I had more but I sold some of them as I had quite a few shade dupes across my Urban Decay palettes. Xx
I love posts like this it’s such a good ideas and a good way to get to know fellow bloggers! X
Thanks Rachel, glad you enjoyed it! Xx
Fab post and tags. I’m a bit the same re brows and cat flick after all these years. Yes, strong is exactly highlighting, I don’t like the contouring & full on applications as I like a more natural base. My comfort zone would be Decleor’s oils and balms..love them as an ex Decleor therapist & know what they do for the skin.
Hope you doing ok lovely

Thanks Heidi! Ooo… I’ve never heard of Decleor before, I’ll have to check them out! Xx
What a great idea and thanks for the tag – I need to get round to doing mine…..
I understand your frustration with the glasses too – although mine aren’t tinted I do feel they take away all the hard work I put into my eye makeup!

You’re welcome! I can’t wait to read your answers. It can be so frustrating to have to cover up our eyes. Xx
What’s that lilac blush shade in the palette, it looks absolutely stunning! I don’t really get waxing either, I’ve tried a couple of different brands of wax strips and none of them have worked on me at all!

It’s beautiful! It’s Mistinguette & the palette is the Guy Bordain One Night Stand Palette. I’ve never tried wax strips, but I think I’ll pass on them. If a professional can’t make it work on me, I don’t stand a chance! Xx
