Today I’m excited to bring you my final outfit post from our holiday. Our evenings were spent in a rather posh restaurant, so I felt it only right that my outfits reflected this. For our last night, I wanted to get really dressed up, so I opted for this black off the shoulder evening dress from Dorothy Perkins.
The mesh (is that the right description?) edging round the skirt caught my eye from the bottom of the sale rail. I was so excited when I pulled the dress out and fell in love with it immediately. The shape of this black off the shoulder evening dress is one that I know flatters me. I find A line skirts and the off the shoulder sleeves are flattering for my shape.
Unfortunately, the dress is a little too big for me. The top section looser than I’d like round the middle. While this isn’t at all flattering when standing, when using my wheelchair it actually doesn’t look bad at all. I’m going to have a got at taking this dress in a little at the sides, to create a slightly slimmer silhouette.
I love how the A line skirt of this black evening dress settles when I’m sitting in my wheelchair. I feel like it cascades over, without getting in the way of the wheels.
As this is a black off the shoulder evening dress, there isn’t much to be done in terms of styling. I chose a black shawl with a sequinned pattern to wear round my shoulders so that I didn’t get cold. When I was warm enough, I slipped the shawl down from my shoulders to the crooks of my elbows.
I only took one evening bag and pair of shoes with me, so you may be sick of seeing these! I love how my Mary Janes look with this dress and my cross body bag, used as a clutch, was ideal.
As I wanted to show off my shoulders, I tied my hair up in a side bun and added a flower clip. Round my neck, I have a set of pearls that were my Mother-in-Law’s. I’m wearing them a little looser than they are intended, but with my oesophageal dysmotility, I don’t like being able to feel things round my throat. On my lips, I have the GOSH Liquid Matte Lips in Red Carpet
My Mother-in-Law found this dress on sale in Dorothy Perkins for just £15 and she kindly treated me to it for holiday.
