The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion Review

Fay Farm offers a variety of hand-made organic body care items. Their newest product is Serenity, and there are two versions of this product, one with CBD oil and one without. These products are designed to reduce anxiety & stress, which is something I’ve been experiencing a lot recently! So today, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion.*

I have been given this product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.

The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion Review

So what about the claims that the Fay Farm Serenity Lotion relieves anxiety & stress?

I have to admit, I was sceptical about these claims. I’ve a few major stresses in my life at the moment. My wheelchair services appointments, my PIP tribunal & my dysphagia symptoms are taking their toll on me. How is a lotion going to do anything to help me?

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! No, of cause The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion is not going to take away the stress that is on me at the moment. The only way those are going to disappear is by sorting the problems. The lotion did help to relax me though. It calmed my mind & helped me get to sleep a little easier. This in turn helped me to work through my options to solve my current stresses.

So what is it that gives the Fay Farm Serenity Lotion it’s anxiety & stress reducing properties?

The sceptic in me wants to say that it’s just because I’m taking the time to do something for me. Buy applying lotion before bed I’m taking part in a relaxing ritual. But I think there’s more to it than that. The lotion contains hemp oil, which is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant & has relaxing properties.

I chose not to review the CBD oil version of The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion because of it’s link to cannabis. Though I have read that hemp is safe in pregnancy, I won’t be using the lotion again until after I’ve had a baby because of it’s links to cannabis. Call me paranoid, but having stopped the majority of my medications because of the risk they pose I don’t want to risk ruining that hard work for the sake of a hand cream. Anyway, I digress…

The relaxing scent smells like a combination of hemp & lavender, though the latter doesn’t feature in the ingredients. If I’m honest, I don’t like the smell of hemp. I’ve also tried a lavender product in the past the help with sleep & it had the opposite effect. It didn’t relax me, the smell just irritated me, keeping me up longer. So I was surprised that the combination of two scents that I don’t get on with really work! I wouldn’t say that I ‘like’ the smell, but I don’t dislike it. I do feel I benefit from the ability the scent has to relax me.

It is suggested to use The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion on your neck, stomach & feet. I was only able to do one out of three. With the way my stomach & throat are currently being affected by whatever digestive/dismotility/dysphagia issue I’m currently experiencing I didn’t want to be touching those areas. So as well as using the lotion on my feel, I also applied it to my hands.

The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion Review

Let’s put my beauty blogger hat on to discuss the lotion aspect of The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion.

For the most part, the packaging is great. The pump is great for people with hand problems who find squeezing tubes difficult. So the pump is perfect for me with my EDS. My only concern about the packaging is that the pump doesn’t lock in place, so if you want to travel with it you’ll need to decant some into a tub or risk getting lotion all over your things.

I don’t tend to use lotions with my dry, eczema prone skin, I find I need something more moisturising. The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion is typical of a lotion in terms of how it hydrates the skin. It isn’t what I would look for in a product purely for moisture, but everyone is different in what they like. The added bonus is that it has relaxing properties, which would be the selling point for me.

The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion doesn’t contain any paragons, alcohol, mineral oil or phthalates, which is a bonus! As it does contain oats. I would proceed with caution if, like me, you are allergic to wheat. While oats don’t contain wheat, if they are grown in a field next to wheat the oats may be contaminated. For me, the risk of contamination is so slight in beauty products that I will give them a try & stop using them if I react.

The Fay Farm Serenity Lotion costs $55 (approximately £45.11), which is a lot of money. Interestingly, the Healing Hemp lotion is $18 (approx. £13.85), which is a big price difference. I’m not sure why the price is so different. I’ve been given no information on shipping costs. My friend Katie from Katie Cupcake Life With ME has written a review of the CBD version of the Fay Farm Serenity Lotion & has been told that the shipping will be approximately $15 (£11.54) to the UK. This doesn’t include any customs charges you may also receive, as it will be shipped from the US.

  1. I really like the sound of this, I like that it has so many natural ingredients in. It is the shipping and custom charges that bug the hell out of me. :o(

    • I didn’t expect it to be this expensive. Such a shame as I don’t think the people who would benefit from it the most would be able to afford it. Xx

  2. It is so great that is does not have mineral oil or alcohol but it is so pricey. And it’s not only the price of the product, it is also the shipping plus custom charges.

    • I was really disappointed that it was so expensive. It seems that it’s out of the price range of most people who would benefit from it the most. Xx

  3. Has it been tested on animals? I’m super curious and may try the CBD versions. That’s a shame about the pump. It really irritates me when brands don’t have a locking pump. Small detail but makes a big difference xxx

    • Unfortunately, there is no indication on their website as to whether the brand or any of their products have been tested on animals. All I could find was that some of their products contain milk, so wouldn’t be suitable for vegans. Xx

    • You’re more than welcome! You’re was a great review & I wanted to be able to offer a resource for people interested in the CBD version. Xx
