In a week & a half, I’ll be heading down to London for two days of tests for PoTS & other forms of dysautonomia at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. This will be followed by an afternoon of treatment at the same hospital for my migraine. Because I don’t live close & need have an early start on Wednesday & Thursday, the hospital are putting me up in a hotel overnight with my Mum as my carer. So, seeing as I’ve already started getting things organised, I thought I would share with you what I’ll be taking in my hospital toiletry bag! I’ve also written a What’s In My Hospital Makeup Bag? post, so go & check that out too if you’re interested!
*I took my camera with me to vlog, have you seen my Autonomic Function Tests video?
La Roche-Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel
I bought this to use with my No.7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush, which I didn’t get on with it. Now I’m just trying to use the cleanser up so it doesn’t go to waste. It’s a good cleanser, I just prefer their cleansing milk. With having about 1/2 the bottle left, I thought it would be light enough to travel with.
Vichy LiftActiveDermSource Eyes cream
This has taken over from my La Roche Posay Hydrphase as my favourite eye cream. You can find out more about the Vichy eye cream in My Skincare Saviours post.
Superdrug Cotton Pads
I love dual-faced cotton pads as I feel I can remove makeup better with the patterned side. I’ve been using these for a while & decided to put 1/2 a pack aside for this hospital stay rather than taking a whole pack which, though it wouldn’t have made a difference weight wise, would have been a more awkward shape to pack.
Garner Micellar Water
I bought this trial size as it was on offer for £1 & I wanted to see if I preferred it to the L’Oreal Micellar Water I had been using. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference! This seemed the perfect size to pack for my stay. I’ve decided not to pack makeup remover or wipes, as I’m not entirely sure I’ll be wearing makeup & didn’t want to add another thing to take. I’ll be using my micellar water to remove my makeup if I decide to wear it.
La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intensive UV Intensive Light Moisturiser
My go-to moisturiser, you can read more about this in My Skincare Staples post.
Nivea Stress Protect Anti-Persperant
Because none likes to smell! This is one of the few deodorants that doesn’t contain citric acid, an ingredient that causes my eczema to flare up.
Toothbrush
This is just a cheap one to travel with. Dan & I have an electric toothbrush at home with interchangeable heads. I find the rotating head of the electric toothbrush particularly helpful with the pain I experience in my hands because of my Ehler-Danlos Syndrome as I have to move my hands less.
Gilette Razor
You never know when you’ll need a razor!
Palmers Cocoa Butter for Hands, Elbown, Knees & Feet
I love this stuff! I usually reserve this type for me feet & use the normal one for the rest of my body, but to save space & lighten my bag I’m just taking this one for my feel, hands & body. I love the rich cocoa smell, which will definitely help to relax me!
Mum & I will be sharing toothpaste, so I don’t need to bring that. We will also be sharing soap. I won’t be able to have a shower on the Thursday morning, as I’ll be attached to monitors. As a result, I won’t be taking shampoo & conditioner, but will be straightening my hair (first time for everything!) before I go down, as it’s a frizzy mess the next morning if I wear it curly. The toiletry bag is part of a set & was a gift-with-purchase from Clarins a few years ago.

Good luck Tania. I hope it all goes well and you get the results you need. Don’t forget your toothpaste :)
Thanks Donna! Mum will be going as my carer & taking toothpaste, so we’ll be sharing that. Xx

Hope everything goes well for you at the hospital! Looks like you’ve packed some great bits here – I’m a huge fan of micellar water too – I couldn’t really tell the difference between Garnier’s and L’oreals either!

Thanks Emily! I’m glad it’s not just me who can’t tell a difference! They seem to have a slightly different smell, but that’s the only difference I can make out! Xx
