If you’ve been around these parts for a while, you’ll know that I dye my hair. I found my first grey hair at the age of 18. I say grey, but it was actually completely white. My Dad had a white streak in his hair by the age of 14, so I’m pretty sure he’s to blame for my hair raging before it’s time. While hair dye is one of my best friends, my hair grows so fast that I can’t use it as often as I need to. I’ve tried & I just ended up with dry, over processed, almost black ends. Note to self, dying your hair every 3 weeks is not the way to go! When I saw the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye in Brown, I knew I needed to give it a try.
Dying my white roots every three weeks is not great for my hair. But, I’ve also got to the point with my EDS that I just don’t have the energy to do it that often. The L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye is perfect for when I need those roots covered, but can’t dye my hair.
I expected the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye to be a spray, a bit like a coloured hair spray. It’s actually a liquid consistency that you spray with the pump onto your hair. This was a surprise to me at first & as a result I ended up with dye on my forehead. So I had to re-do my makeup! I’d definitely suggest spraying this BEFORE putting on your makeup.
I found the coverage the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye gave to be really good. You have to use 4-5 pumps if you want to cover your parting, as the nozzel is quite small. But, this also makes it’s application precise. This is great though, as it means you aren’t likely to cover the entire room & yourself in dye. It’s really easy to use, but you do need to be a careful. I tend to get dye on my hands when I’m using them to cover my eyes to avoid a hair dye/eyes catastrophe. I’ve found that some of the dye I get on my hands washes off if I’m quick, but not all of it. A makeup wipe is enough to get the rest of the dye off my skin.

The colour is perfect for me too. I use the John Frieda Foam Colour hair dye in 6N & the Brown L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye matches perfectly. It also lasts 2-3 days (without being washed), which is fantastic! I was expecting a dry shampoo scenario where I’d have to retouch my roots every day until I dyed my hair, but nope!
I’m in love with the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Hair Dye, it makes my life so much easier. I will continue to buy it as it takes the stress out of the question “When am I going to dye my hair!?!” It also means that I never have to go out with white roots because it’s too soon or I don’t have the energy to dye my hair.

I love this stuff too. Similar to you, I’ve had silver/white hair coming through since I was 17. My gran on my dad’s side was completely white by her 20s. I’m told I’m lucky I haven’t gone that way but tbh, I kinda wish I had. At least then I could dye it cool pastel colours or something. Instead, my greys leave my hair looking dull and drab. This product sorts that problem out until I feel up to dying it :)
Yay! I’m so glad you’ve gotten on with it well too Donna! I’d never thought of that, white hair would be amazing for fun colours. The thought of having to bleach my hair before using colour really puts me off, but white hair would be great for this! Xx
I’ve had my eyes on this stuff for a while as I’m so dark haired and I was literally dying hair just to cover a few greys. That said I’ve now been doing the whole balagye thing and I just get my roots touched up at the salon but this is handy for in between visits.

Been wondering about this, my hair is dyed blonde roots are a mix of dark and grey. I normal use either John freida mousse or hairdresser if I’ve had a recent cut. I’ve tried a powder type cheapo option and was just OK so this attracts my attention straight away. You can really tell the difference. Great for a special night or day out. Great review.

Oh I’m so glad I’ve finally found a review on this product! I first saw this advertised on telly but thought it was too good to be true. I’ve been telling my parents they need a product that could cover their greys temporarily when they can’t be bothered to dye their hair.
