L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara Review

Do you remember the dual ended mascaras, with one end that was a white primer? I remember trying one when I was about 15. I loved the concept, but unfortunately failed miserably with application. Was anyone ever able to apply one of those without leaving at least some of the white primer visible on the lashes? I certainly wasn’t! When i saw the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara, with it’s black primer, I knew I had to try it!

I’ve only tried a fiber mascara once. The fibers flaked off into my eye and it was really painful. And that’s really painful by chronic pain standards! This experience was enough to put me off fiber mascaras for life. But, I’ve had really good experiences with L’Oreal mascaras in the past. I knew they wouldn’t put out a mascara that flaked. So I decided to give the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara a try.

Unfortunately, L’Oreal insist on putting the hygiene plastic over the peelable sticker that the ingredients are on. As someone with allergies this is a bugbear. Without being able to read a full ingredients list, I can’t try a product. Luckily, the ingredients of the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara are available on the Boots website. This isn’t always the case and I often find that I miss out on being able to try new releases. There’s a lip product range that launched in the summer, that I’m still yet to try because I can’t find the ingredients anywhere – not even on a sticker under plastic wrapping! Companies really need to think more about whether their ingredients are accessible.

I really like the packaging of the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara. The purple catches my eye and the shape is ergonomic, making applying the mascara easier. Particularly when I’m struggling with pain in my hands because of my EDS.

The L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara consists of two sides. The first is a black primer. The wand of this is an hourglass shape. The second side contains the fibers, with a curved wand to apply. I really like both wands. Where possible, I always like to get mascara with a curved wand. I’ve only ever tried one other mascara with an hourglass wand shape. I didn’t get on well with it, but I think that was the mascara itself rather than the wand shape, because I like the hourglass wand on the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara.

The important thing to remember about the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara is that you need to apply the fibers while the primer is still wet. I didn’t realise this the first time I applied the mascara and as a result, I didn’t get the best effect possible. Buy the end of the day, I’d ended up with flakes on my face. So it’s really important to apply the fibers straight after you put the primer on.

My lashes are stubbornly straight. I always have to curl my lashes before applying mascara and I use two coats of mascara on my top lashes.

I was really impressed with how the primer of the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara lengthened my lashes. Adding the fibers on top gave a nice effect that, if I didn’t have to wear my precision tinted lenses, I would be thrilled with. But, because of my precision tinted lenses, I prefer my lashes a little move voluminous than the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara gave me. My aim with eye makeup is to bring my eyes out from behind my glasses as much as possible. I tried adding a second coat of the fibers. This gave me the look I was after, but by the end of the day, I had quite a few flakes on my face.

I like to wear mascara on my bottom lashes, but nothing too bold, other wise I end up with shadows to add to my already dark under eyes. One layer of the primer side of the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara was perfect form my lower lashes.

If I didn’t wear precision tinted lenses, which most people don’t have to, this would be an ideal mascara for me. Or, if the mascara gave more volume, it would be perfect. I’ll definitely continue to use this mascara, particularly as I’m favouring natural makeup at the moment.

I think the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara would suit a lot of people. The difference in my lashes was amazing. There aren’t many mascaras that I would agree give a false lash effect, but this one does.

Update: I didn’t want to go on holiday with this mascara. I knew we’d be going out for posh dinners and I’d be wearing a full face of makeup. So I repurchased the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I’ve continued to use the L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara on my bottom lashes.
