We had some REALLY hot weather last month & when this happens, the only thing I can do with my hair is to tie it up. I went to visit my parents for a couple of weeks & whilst down there, had my hair cut. My hairdresser straightens my hair before cutting it, it’s the only time my hair is ever straight & I try to keep it that way for as long as possible. I can usually manage a week with a little help from some dry shampoo!

So my hair was straight, the weather was hot & my hair has a tendency to frizz on contact with moisture (i.e. sweat!). Not a good combination. I had just been to a Catalyst PR event & had been given a magi:bobble*. With it’s claim to not leave kinks in your hair I figured this was the perfect opportunity to test it out!
The magi:bobble is designed to:

My first use of the magi:bobble stretched the wire like design & I thought “great! That won’t last long then!” How wrong I was. When I next looked at the bobble it had returned to it’s original size. Whilst this won’t happen an indefinite number of times, I suspect that the life expectancy of this bobble will be much longer than that of a traditional hairband.
I was impressed with how the bobble held & that it didn’t cause a kink in my unusually straight hair, until I slept in it. Mum pointed out that it probably wasn’t designed to be slept in!
I don’t tend to find that standard hairbands pull at my hair or cause tension. That could be because I favour more relaxed updos or that I’ve learnt from my many years as a chronic migraineur not to pull my hair too tight. I did become aware that, whilst I do notice initial tugging as I twist a standard band, I didn’t experience this with the magi:bobble.
This is definitely something I could have done with when I went to Centre Parks for tying my hair up at the pool. None wants to put a wet (or dry!) hairband that smell of chlorine back in their hair. I think I put mine in the washing machine once I got home!

Ooo, these look fab. I think I need them. I can’t wear my hair up for long as it gives me headaches but when it’s hot I tie it back in a loose pony.

I have to tie my hair up as well. It gets really hot (37-40degrees) so there’s no alternative but to tie your hair up. Stupid me left mine in the UK and I had at least a couple of incidents where I wished I hadn’t! I even saw one of the flight attendents wearing these so they must work well. I love that you tested them in various situations and I’m surprised the wire is that strong and hasn’t broken!

I’ve been really impressed with it. There are different makes around & I’ve heard varying opinions about how they perform so I’d recommend researching before buying. I know some are more accessible in terms of where you can purchase than others & I’d hate for you to buy a different brand & be disappointed. Xx
I use these all the time. I can’t tie my hair with other elastic ones because they tug really hard and cause damage.

I really need to check these out! I have really really thick curly hair so regular hair bands don’t tend to last long!

I’d never seen these before until the other day when I saw a girl wearing one on her wrist and I thought it was a bracelet! Now I know :)
They do market them as being a ‘wrist accessory’ too! Xx
