This isn’t quite the post I had planned for today, but one thing I’ve learned is that the ability to adapt is the key to success. So the post I had planned will be saved for next year. Today, I’ll be showing you how I style a red jumper dress. The red shade makes this jumper dress ideal for smart casual festive events.

I got this red jumper dress a number of years ago from Matalan. Unfortunately, it’s been in storage of two or three years because I was just too big to be able to wear it. Now that my weight has significantly reduced thanks to my medication reduction, I’ve been able to pull it out again.

I love the pattern knitted into my red jumper dress and that it has pockets. The collar and capped sleeves are also really cute and great to keep me that little bit warmer. It’s also really comfy paired with a long sleeved t-shirt and leggings. This is definitely a go-to foundation for most of my outfits at the moment.

Whenever I wear this dress, I always reach for a thick belt. This one is from Primark and is rather old but I can’t bear to part with it. I love the pattern on it. I would normally wear the belt around my waist. When I’m using my wheelchair, I loosen it a little so that it’s round my hips when I’m standing. This means that when I sit down, I don’t feel constricted or look like the belt is sitting just below my boobs!

On my feet I chose my New Look Chelsea Boots, but you could choose any black shoes would compliment this outfit. I considered wearing my heeled ankle boots, that you can see in my long camel gilet post, but I wanted to go a little more casual and show you a flat boot option. Do you like the festive touch I’ve added to my wheelchair?

I’m pretty sure this is going to be the outfit I wear to our family gathering on Christmas Eve at my Nanna’s house, if I’m well enough to travel.
What do you think of this outfit? Would you wear it?

Thank you so much Mollie! I’m so glad I finally fit into it again. Xx
Love this outfit, specially with the belt!
Thank you so much! It’s a shame I’ve had to throw the belt away now because it was getting tatty. I’m keeping my eyes open for something similar. Xx
That is a lovely jumper and I love how you styled it with the black top and leggings under and the black belt! I bet you are pleased you held on to it.

Thanks! I’ve held onto all of my clothes from before I started on the Gabapentin. I tried so hard to loose weight when I was on it and was convinced that I’d manage it one day. The reality was rather different and I’d have continued to gain weigh if I hadn’t had to stop it to try for a family. The weight gain was so hard to deal with and I’d never have been emotionally able to throw my smaller clothes away. I’m in a much happier place with my weight now. Though I’m not going to throw my bigger clothes away just yet, incase they’re useful when I’m pregnant, I have been starting thinking about putting them up in the loft. I know I won’t be going back onto Gabapentin post-pregnancy, because of the effect the extra weight had on my self-esteem. Xx
