Wow! How did I manage to complete Blogmas!?! Im still in shock that I managed to post for 24 days in a row. I feel like I’ve learnt a few things, both good and bad, from posting every day. In order to improve, it’s important to take a moment to look back on things and consider what went well and what could have gone better. So with this in mind, I’m going to be reflecting on Blogmas and sharing my thoughts with you. I hope this is helpful if you’re considering doing Blogmas next year, or if you tried this year but didn’t manage to complete the 24 days.

Reflecting on Blogmas: The Positives
One thing that stood out to me is that the quality of my posts have improved. My first two Blogmas posts were written in January 2016. My plan was to write two posts a month and then take the whole of December off from writing. While I’m not unhappy with my first two Blogmas posts, I just don’t think that they’re at the same level as my other posts.
I plucked up the courage to share some outfit posts during Blogmas and I’m pleased to say that these have gone down well. So much so that I’ve set aside one post a week in 2017 for fashion content!
During the summer, I struggled to get two posts up a week. There were lots of family gatherings going on, I wanted to play Pokemon Go and my health wasn’t great. During Blogmas, I faced similar difficulties. While I didn’t want to play Pokemon Go so much, because it was so cold outside, I had other things to occupy my mind. Presents to buy and hospital appointments to organise. Blogmas has shown me that, if I’m organised, I can overcome the various difficulties life throws at me and still get content up daily.
As a result of this epiphany, I’m going to be aiming to post four times a week. The additional post will be a summary of the #SpoonieSpeak Twitter Chat, which is something that has been requested. If you want to know what to expect from my blog and when in 2017, you can check out my Blog Schedule.

Reflecting On Blogmas: The Negatives
While Blogmas has definitely been a positive experience for me, there have been some negatives.
I was expecting to see an increase in traffic to my blog as a result of the additional posts. I saw a little, but nothing drastic. This may have been because I didn’t have the time or energy for the promotion I would normally do for each of my posts.
While I managed to get up a post per day, this came at a price. As I’ve just mentioned, I didn’t have the time or the energy to promote my new content every day. As a result, but the end of Blogmas I was so exhausted that I wasn’t even promoting my normal posts!
It wasn’t just promotion that suffered in order to be able to create content every day. Replying to comments, reading and commenting on other people’s blogs and my social media presence also suffered.
If I had managed to write my two posts a month, I would have had plenty of time for all these things, but I wouldn’t have been as happy with my content. It feels like a no win situation if I’m honest!
I may do Blogmas again next year, I may not. I’m glad I managed it this year, as I’ve learnt a lot from the experience. I may consider volgmas in the future, when I’m well enough to get back to filming for my YouTube channel, though I suspect this will have similar difficulties.
Did you take part in Blogmas? How did you find it? Did you learn anything from your experience?

I think you did amazing to post daily. It’s something I hope to be able to achieve in future but that would be too much for me at the moment. It’s always good to reflect and I’m sure your writing and content will continue to grow and go from strength to strength in 2017 :)
Thank you so much Donna! I definitely wouldn’t have managed it had I not started planning a year in advance. I was surprised that my views didn’t change significantly as a result of posting every day. it’s definitely reduced the pressure I’d been feeling to post more often. I’m looking forward to watching both our blogs growing in 2017. Xx
That’s really cool that you were able to do this! I don’t think I am organized enough to take on that type of challenge lol I can really see your blog growing, hang in there!
