Styling A Mint Slinky Cold Shoulder Top

I hope I’m not speaking too soon when I say that spring is finally here! Woohoo! That means spring outfit posts, which I’m really excited about. Today I’m styling a mint slinky cold shoulder top * in an outfit that’s perfect for the changeable spring weather.

Pastel shades are some of my favourite for spring, so I love this mint slinky cold shoulder top from Fuschia white. I’m funny about wearing green clothes. I find it hard to pick shades that don’t clash with my glasses. Mint, however is one exception to this. I love the way mint looks with my glasses, I think the two shades of green compliment each other well. My bridesmaid’s dress for my sister’s wedding was also mint and I loved how it looked. This top costs £15 and also comes in a pretty blush shade.

The thing that first caught my eye with the mint slinky cold shoulder top is the criss cross straps at the front of the top. They lay on the décolletage beautifully and add additional interest to the top. I love how this detail looks with my River Island leather jacket. The criss cross straps are in just the right place to peak out from my jacket when it’s done up. I know I’ll be wearing this combination a lot!

I often worry about ordering clothes online because of sizing, particularly as I’ve lost so much weight recently from coming off my Gabapentin. However, I was really pleased that this slinky cold shoulder top in a size 10 fits me perfectly. SIZE 10! Woohoo! I’m starting to feel more comfortable in my own body again. I love how the mint slinky cold shoulder top hangs. The cut creates very flattering pleats and the bat wing sleeves give a nice structure. I love the effect the material gives too, it almost shimmers in the light!

As the mint slinky cold shoulder top is on the shorter side, it suits me best tucked into a skirt. Here, I’ve paired it with a skater skirt from Topshop. Wearing the top this way is more flattering on my stomach. This is a more flattering outfit for when I’m using my crutches and not my wheelchair.

As spring is temperamental in terms of weather, I’ve added a pair of leggings from Select and my flat black shoes. If it gets hotter, the tights can be removed and sandals can be worn. If it gets colder, the shoes can be substituted for a pair of black ankle boots.

One thing I will mention is that the home page of the Fuchsia White website is no good for those who are photosensitive. The whole page is covered in black dots, which creates a pattern. This is particularly problematic for me with my Mears-Irlen syndrome, basilar type migraine and hemiplegic migraine. In order to access the website, I have to get Dan to go through the home page for me. The text is also pink (I can only read black text on a white background. Anything else interferes with how my precision tinted lenses work). I can pick the items I like from the pictures, but need help checking the details and placing an order.

What do you think of this outfit? Do you like the criss cross detail at the front of the top?
