2017 Project Pan Update 1

It’s been three months since my 2017 Project Pan Introduction, so it’s now time to share with you the progress I’ve made! Overall, I’ve been really impressed with how this project is going. There have been a few products that I’ve been unsure if I’ll manage to finish up in a year. But then when I’ve come to put this post together, I’ve seen some really good progress. This has reassured me that if I persevere, I’ll be able to finish most of the products up by the end of the year. So if you want to know what I’ve used up by my 2017 Project Pan Update 1, and find out what new products I’ll be working on, keep reading!

2017 Project Pan, project pan update 1

2017 project pan update 1: Anatomicals lip balm

Finished on 31/3/17

I’m really impressed that I’ve managed to finish this lip balm, and just the day before my first update! I thought I would be half way through by this point. I really love this lip balm and would definitely buy another if I’m ever able to find one. There are a few on eBay, but I question whether they’re old as I haven’t been able to get this lip balm from Selfridges (where I first found it) for a few years now.

Project Pan Update 1

I’m pretty sure this lip balm was £4.95. I can’t find a definitive answer online, so I’m going to go with this for my total.

I’d really like to make a dent in my lip balm numbers, so I’m going to replace the Anatomicals lip balm with the ThisWorks Turbo Balm. I love this balm for my cuticles. I used to put apply it once a week, sat on the train coming home after a long day teaching. It also makes a great lip balm in the warmer months, but isn’t intense enough for when it’s cold. I love this balm so much that I stocked up when they were discontinued – picking up balms from Boots and TKMaxx for 1/2 price. But now it’s time for me to let go of the balm I once loved, having discovered Dr PawPaw.

Project Pan Update 1

While the weather sorts itself out, I’m going to make a start on my The Body Shop Born Lippy lip balm. I have two of these in Raspberry, so it makes sense to make to work on using one up. I’ll switch to the Turbo Balm when the weather improves and then go back to my Born Lippy lip balm as we move into autumn.

2017 project pan update 1: Nars Tinted Moisturiser

I’ve used the Nars Tinted Moisturiser a few times over the past three months, but not as much as I would have liked. I just don’t have the energy for a full face of makeup. As the tube is black, I’ve no way of knowing how much product is left, but I suspect it’s not much. I’m finding that I’m getting air bubbles when I try to get product out. I’m hoping this is a sign that I’m coming to the end! I love the Nars Tinted Moisturiser, but I’ve had this one a while. Too long for the SPF to still be useful, so I thought it would be a good idea to use it up. You can read more about my thoughts on this in my Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser Review.

2017 project pan update 1: Soap & Glory Brow Archery

So close to being finished!

I have less than one application left of the Soap & Glory Brow Archery, so I’m going to class it as being done in this project. I’ll be wearing makeup today, for my Mother-in-Law’s birthday meal, so it’ll be used up by the time you read this. I said in my review of the Soap & Glory Brow Archery that I would purchase the Brow Archery with a spoolie rather than the brow tint next time. However, I’ve been doing some organising and found that I already have a back up of this version of the Soap & Glory Brow Archery!

Project Pan Update 1

I’m going to be replacing the Soap & Glory Brow Archery with my Barbra Daly Brow Pencil in Dark. This product REALLY isn’t dark! It’s remained barely touched in my collection because the shade is too light to look right in the tails of my brows. So I’m going to be using this up in just the body of my brows. I’ve not yet decided what I’ll use for the tails. As I’m only going to be using this in the body of my brows, I’m not sure how quickly I’ll make progress. Because of this, I’m not going to be setting myself a goal just yet. I’m just going to work on persevering and getting through as much as I can.

Project Pan Update 1

2017 project pan update 1: MUA Clear Mascara

So close to being finished!

I said that I’d use this MUA Clear Mascara for as long as the Soap & Glory Brow Archery was still going and I’ve stuck to that. I’m pretty impressed with how much I’ve managed to use up and I think now is a good time to call it quits. The mascara only cost £1, it’s nearly done and the colour of the mascara is disgusting!

Project Pan Update 1

I was going to add another product in to my project, in place of my MUA Clear Mascara, but as I’m including a second perfume, second Colour Tattoo and an additional lip product, I think I’m all good with the number of products I’m trying to use up.

2017 project pan update 1: B. Setting Powder

I’ve not made much progress on this setting powder, but then I haven’t used it much. I’m going to persevere with my aim of finishing it up by the end of 2017, a goal I *think* will be achievable.

2017 project pan update 1: Dior Addict Lipstick

I’m really surprised that I’m about half way done with this lipstick! Earlier on in the year I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish it in a year! Now I’m confident that I’ll be able to. I’m really enjoying the shade, the sheer pigmentation and the shiny finish. I can’t believe I didn’t use this lipstick for so long!

I recently found an old lipgloss in the pocket of a handbag. The gloss itself seems to be ok, but I know it’s old so I want to work on finishing it up. So I’m going to throw this into my project pan! I’ll be trying to focus on using the lip gloss more in the spring and summer, since it’s not really an autumn or winter shade. A risky strategy, leaving the lipstick mostly until the colder months roll around again, but I’m hoping it’s one that will pay off.

2017 project pan update 1: Tommy Girl

Finished on 15/2/17

I was so impressed that I finished the Tommy Girl perfume in less than two months! My Dad took the spray pump out so that I could get  the last little bit.

Project Pan Update 1

I really want to make a dent in my perfumes. So to replace Tommy Girl, I’ve introduced my Exclamation perfume. I started this on 16/2/17 and am already half way through! I suspect I will have finished this perfume by the next update.

A month and a half’s progress on my two new perfumes

While looking for a perfume to replace my Tommy Girl, I noticed that I’m close to finishing my Givenchy Very Irresistible perfume. So, I thought I’d also add this in too! You can see I’ve made a little progress with this perfume from the two photos below. I’m going to be using Exclamation for daily wear and saving Givenchy’s Very Irresistible for special occasions. My aim for Very Irresistible is to finish it by the end of the year.

2017 project pan update 1: Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold

I’ve not done as well as I’d hoped with my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold. You can see a little progress at the bottom of the pan, but not much. Certainly nowhere near as much as I wanted. In all honesty, I’ve probably reached for my On and On Bronze Colour Tattoo just as much. I’ve been struggling quite a bit with my health and the idea of putting eyeshadow on has been too much some days. So I’ve been grabbing On and On Bronze for a wash of colour, without having the faff of adding other eyeshadows to create a look.

As a result, I’m going to scrap my goal of finishing half of my Pink Gold Colour Tattoo. Instead, I’m going to add in my On and On Bronze Colour Tattoo. My aim will be to use up as much as I can from both/either of these. This way, I’m not going to feel pressure to use Pink Gold if I just don’t have the energy.

2017 project pan update 1: Nars Cream blusher in Penny Lane

Although I haven’t yet hit pan, I feel like I’ve made some good progress. My goal for the end of the year was to hit pan. But actually, I think I’ll manage this by next update. I was hoping that I might just have managed it now, but alas this hasn’t been the case. I’m not sure if I’ll continue to work on this once I’ve hit pan or if I’ll swap and try to hit pan on another cream blusher. I’d love to know what you’d do!

2017 project pan update 1: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero

I thought I’d really struggle to use up my Zero eyeliner in a year. However, I’ve been really impressed with my 3 months progress. It’s possible that I may actually finish this eyeliner up, woohoo! I have so many black eyeliners and I want to work through them.

Project Pan Update 1

Finished Products:

1. Tommy Girl Perfume – £17.99

2. Anatomicals lip balm – £4.95

3. Soap & Glory Brow Archery – £10

4. MUA Clear Brow Gel – £1

Total finished = £33.94

I’m really surprised that I’ve finished 4 of my 10 products already and am on my way to having a second perfume done! I’ve also ended up with more than 10 products. I’m going to let that slide, as I don’t have ’10’ in the title. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to reach my goals for more than 10 items this year. Last year I managed 11, having finished 3 products by the first update.

    • Thank you so much! It’s lots of fun, though I’m starting to feel like I’m neglecting my other products. I may have to give myself some days off to enjoy some other products. Xx

    • Thank you so much! I’ll be thrilled if I can make it through the lipstick and lip gloss. I’ve currently got way too many! Xx

    • Thank you so much! That’s a great goal. Before I invest in another tinted moisturiser, I want to try to finish up a foundation. Because I really don’t need more than one of each. Xx

  1. This is a truly excellent idea! I have so many half products that I really should use up. Would you mind if I joined in the challenge? Very well done on using up what you have done so far though.. you’ve made some great progress.

    • Thank you so much! I used to track my progress as YouTube videos, but as I’ve not been well enough to do this for some time, I thought I’d write some blog posts. I’d love for you to join in! There are some fantastic project pan channels on YouTube. I can highly recommend Glamour With Grace, Pretty Pistol 86 and Amber F for inspiration. Xx
