I know I’ve styled this H&M blouse already, but I love it so much that I couldn’t stop at just one post! We recently went out for a family meal to celebrate my Mother-in-Law’s birthday. This is difficult for me because of my dysphagia, so I wanted to feel as comfortable and confident as possible. This blouse really helps me achieve this! The combination I’ve chosen makes a great smart casual spring outfit, and is one that I’m already planning on wearing when Dan and I go out with a friend later this month!
I’ve talked about this long sleeve H&M blouse, which costs £24.99 and was a gift from my Mother-in-Law in my smart spring outfit post, so I won’t bore you by repeating myself. One thing I will say though, is that I can’t wear the blouse when I need my wrist brace (to stop hyperextension caused my my EDS). The cuff is too fitted to go over the brace. I tried wearing it open but it flaps around all over the place. Not ideal when wheeling! So this blouse will be best suited for occasions where I don’t have to go far or will have someone with me, to help me push if my wrists become problematic.
I don’t think I said in my Smart Spring Outfit post, but I love wearing my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina with this blouse. I bought this shade with vouchers I got for Christmas and absolutely love it!
I’ve paired the H&M blouse with my New Look leggings to create my smart casual spring outfit. I bought these jeggings a few years ago, because I couldn’t find a pair of skinny jeans that fit me! I fell in love with them and have worn them so much that they’re now looking a little faded. They’re also definitely too big for me around the middle (Yay!). As I love these so much! When I have a little money to spend, I’m going to invest in a few pairs in my current size (10). When aiming for a smart casual look with denim, I’ll always choose a dark wash. So that’s what I’ve done for this smart casual spring outfit.
As most of my bags are shoulder bags, I’m don’t have many wheelchair friendly options available to me at the moment. So once again paid this outfit with my black cross body bag with silver hardware, used as a clutch with the strap tucked in. Annoyingly, I forgot to take a photo with the bag. If you want to see it, check out my Smart Spring Outfit post, linked above. The bag is from Dorothy Perkins and I do really like it, but variety is the spice of life! Bags are another thing on my list to invest in, as my needs have changed somewhat!
If you’ve read my other fashion posts, you’ll know I’m excited to finally be able to wear heels again. For my smart casual spring summer outfit, I thought I’d deviate from my standard black and wear a nude heel. These square toed nude platform stiletto heels were another great purchase I made a few years ago from New Look. The heel isn’t the easiest for keeping on the foot plate, but they’re worth it. Actually, I may experiment with using my calf strap when I wear this outfit next. This might stop my heel from slipping. The first thing Dan’s sister-in-law said to me was how much she loved these shoes. She’s a lady with impeccable style and taste, so these are definitely a winner!
Just incase I got cold, I added my River Island faux leather jacket. This was part of my bridesmaid outfit for my sister’s wedding. I love this jacket so much and now have my eye on a few others in different colours.
I’d love to know what you think of the location I used for these photos. It seems a shame to carry on taking outfit photos in my lounge in the warmer months. Especially as the lighting in the room isn’t great. But finding a location I can get to easily, with my camera and tripod, that also has some form of white background (#InstagramProblems) has been tricky. Any suggestion welcome!
