Strappy Sandals Wish List

For probably the past five years, I’ve lived in flip flops in the summer. Unfortunately, they’re not all that practical with my current mobility difficulties. I like to be able to to propel (use my feet to move) my wheelchair to reduce the strain on my arms, but this is impossible with footwear that isn’t securely attached to my feet. Otherwise they just fall off! I’ve tried flip flops while on crutches &, while this is a little easier than toe propelling, the lack of security for flip flops on my feet is still far from ideal. What better way to pick out some new sandals than with a strappy sandals wish list!

When browsing the internet for strappy sandals, I’ve stuck to flat options. This will allow me to wear them when I’m using my wheelchair & crutches, where as anything with a heel would have to be reserved for just being worn when I’m using my wheelchair continuously. Colour wise, I favour black, tan & white as these go with the majority of outfits & bags.

The Dressy/Formal Strappy Sandals

As summer is often the time for weddings & garden parties, I thought it only right that I include some more dressy scrappy sandal options in my wish list.

Jones The Bootmaker Gabor Spectacular Flat Sandals (was £70, now £56)

These are gorgeous! I love the square studs, which create an interesting pattern & give a dressy feel to the sandals. While these are the most expensive sandals on my wish list, they include a Gabor’s best insoles in their design, making it much more comfortable should I feel up to walking a little. They also have a rubber sole, which is ideal for me. I find I catch my ankles with the soles of my shoes, sandals in particular. A lot of sandals have a hard sole, which I often caught on my ankle & resulted in a lot of pain & bruising. Can’t be doing with that. I think these hard soles ware one of the reasons I switched to flip flops, as most have a soft sole!

Asos Flirty Embellished Flat Sandals (£16)

A little bit of sparkle never goes a miss. These Flirty Embellished Flat Sandals from Asos certainly have sparkle down to a tea. I love the effect that the diamonte’s make, with the added interest that the zig-zag gives. I also like that these are a lighter colour option, as sometimes you don’t want dark coloured sandals in the summer.

The Everyday Wear Strappy Sandals

Dorothy Perkins Tan ‘Shine’ Two Part Sandals (was £12, now £9.12)

If you’re looking for a comfortable, easy to wear, everyday sandals, these are ideal. They’re a similar style to the Jones The Bootmaker Gabor’s, but less dressy. I love tan for day-to-day as it generally gives a more relaxed look than black. These would be perfect for visiting the park or heading to the beach on a summer’s day.

New Look Black Metal Rim T Bar Strap Sandals (£7.99)

Black & gold, what a perfect combination! The metal details give extra interest to these sandals. As well as being ideal for during the day, these can be dressed up for a semi-formal occasion. Personally I wouldn’t wear them as formal sandals, because they give the hint of a flip flop look with the T bar going between the big & first toe. As well as black, these also come in tan & red.

New Look Black Leather Twist Plait Sandals (£12.99)

Ok, so these are similar in style to the Black Metal Rim T Bar Strap Sandals, but I couldn’t choose between the two. I love the look of platted straps. I’m not sure why, but it looks very summery to me. Maybe it reminds me of rope tying boats up at the seafront. Anyway, I think the pattern created with the platted straps is really pretty & definitely catches the eye.

Asos Flint Leather Two Part Sandals (£22)

I tend to prefer more dainty looking sandals, but these Flint Leather Two Part Sandals from Asos really caught my eye. I like the look of the two ankle straps. Sometimes you want something chunkier to compliment your outfit & these are a perfect option. Asos also have a similar sandal with just the one strap too, if the two straps aren’t your cup of tea.
