2015 Makeup Favourites

2015 has been a great year for me in terms of makeup, both new releases & new discoveries. I couldn’t let the year end without sharing them with you, so if you want to know which products have been my 2015 makeup favourites & changed my makeup game, keep reading! A post on my 2015 General Favourites will be up next.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob £3.99

I’ve never been a lip liner person, I’ve owned a couple but never reached for them. Last year, I noticed that my lips are uneven & that part of my lower lip doesn’t have much pigmentation to it. To counter this, I decided to experiment with lip liners more. One of the ones I picked up was Rimmel’s East End Snob. Part of the reason I chose this lip pencil was the price, as I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that might not get a lot of use. I also chose this formulation because I am allergic to one of the ingredients in Rimmel’s 1000 Kisses pencils. I was so impressed with East End Snob that I used it up within 6 months! I’ve already repurchased it but then lost the new & unused pencil, so will be aiming to use one other lip pencil up first, before picking this one up again. For the price you really can’t go wrong!

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette £38

This palette is extremely versatile! I have a full review with swatches & a look from when it launched, as well as a YouTube video showing it in action. I was surprised by just how much I have used this palette. I’ve previously bought the Urban Decay Smoked Palette, which I have so far only used once. Though the Naked Smoky palette isn’t as smokey, I did wonder whether I would get enough use out of it to justify having both. I’m glad this didn’t put me off buying the Naked Smoky palette, as I’m pleased to say that I have definitely given this palette a lot of love! I think my favourite shade is Dirtysweet, it’s everything I wanted Half Baked to be!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara £19.50

I’ve written a full review of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, sufficed to say – I love it! It’s on the pricier side & isn’t a product I will repurchase until I have a steady income again, but it makes my lashes look lovely!

OPI Berlin There Done That £12.50

I really struggle with nail polish chipping on me. This polish from OPI is one of the few exceptions! If I ever want my nails to last, this is what I use. The colour is flattering for all seasons & I never fail to get compliments on it! I have to say though, I have never bought a full price OPI polish & don’t think I ever could – that’s a lot of money for nail polish!

2015 Makeup Favourites

Tape

This year, I’ve really worked on my eyeliner game. I’ve always struggled getting a good wing so decided to bite the bullet & try using tape as a guide. I have to say, I love the effect it gives! As well as being a great guide for eyeliner application, it also gives a crisp, clean edge to eyeshadow – perfect for a dramatic look!

Sigma Brow Powder in Medium £10.95

I discovered the Sigma Brow Powder when I went to Cocktail Cosmetics, which you can see in my vlog. They have since re-located, so I’m really glad I got to visit while they were still in a central(ish) Birmingham location. I’d been wanting to find a great powder shade for my brows & this was perfect. I love that it has two shades. I use the lighter one on the main section of my brows, where I have more hairs & the darker shade on the tails of my brows, which are fairly slim & space in terms of hair. I also use it on the top of the body of my right eyebrow, which is naturally lower than the left one what ever I try to do to correct it! The use of two shades avoids a flat look & I love it!

2015 Makeup Favourites

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow £49

I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow when I went to Selfridges to meet Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup Which you can view in the vlog above. I was initially nervous that the contour would be too warm toned for me. I found that while it is warmer than what I would normally go for, it was also lighter which proved to be a perfect combination! The highlighter is stunning & I will have a full review of this product coming in the new year.

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray in Light/Medium £20.50

As I’ve gotten older, my under eyes have become more creased & I have found that concealer doesn’t sit as well under my eyes. This is a big pain, as I often have dark under eye circles that I want to cover up. The Benefit Stay Don’t Stray primer has been fantastic for under my eyes, as well as on my lids. Not only does it help my concealer to stay in place longer with minimal creasing, the tone of the product helps to neutralise my dark circles before I even apply concealer! If I’m having a minimal makeup day I’ll sometimes skip concealer all together as this, along with the fact I wear precision tinted lenses means my dark circles are barely noticeable.

  1. I love the Rimmel lip liner, I’ve been wearing it so much this year. It’s the perfect nineties colour for my complexion. Great favourites, there’s so many things on this list that I’d really like to try out x

    • I’d never thought to use the Rimmel lip liner to recreate a 90s lip! I usually use something darker for my colouring, but often find the look is too brown for my liking. I’m definitely going to give it a try when I repurchase this liner as it sounds like it could be the perfect solution! Thanks Alice. Xx

  2. I didn’t know about this sigma brow powder! It looks good, I need to try. Coz now I’m using my shiseido kit. And yes, I agree about urban decay palette. It’s something worth using! Very nice post, as always! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  3. Tape has been something I’ve discovered recently – god doesn’t it make a difference?!
I absolutely adore roller lash too! Haven’t used anything else since it was released – keep trying other products and always returning to roller lash.

    • It really does! The Roller Lash would be perfect if it were just a little cheaper, but I’m glad I’ve found a less expensive option for my Dior Iconic Overcurl! Xx

    • It really has! I can’t believe it has taken me so long to own one of her products. I’d love more so had better get saving! What would you recommend I get next? Xx

    • They’re both lovely products! I can’t afford to restock Roller Lash at the moment, but once I’ve got a more stable job I will. Xx
