I was really excited to receive an email inviting me to the Catalyst PR Blogger Event. This was my first PR event & was their Autumn/Winter preview! So I wanted to take you along with me! I was relieved at how relaxed the atmosphere was. The event ran from 9-4, but having had my Botox injections for my migraine the day before, there was no way I would have made it into London by 9am (I ended up not being able to get out of bed before 9am!).
I met up with Carolin from Style Lingua and Karen from Style Sunrise before hand which was lovely as it meant I had friends to go round with. Though I’d never met either of these ladies, we have spoken on Twitter & we clicked straight away!
The event was held at the Orange & Courtyard Garden, Cavendish Square, a beautiful venue that was the perfect setting. When we arrived we were greeted with enthusiasm & pointed in the direction of the lunch & drinks that had been laid out for us (which we weren’t expecting at all!). We were also told the areas of the room where we would find the different brands. The room was nicely set out, with brands flowing nicely from one to the other. All the haircare brands were together, moving into makeup, etc.
Our first stop was Steam Cream, a natural moisturiser brand. We were told all about the unique way in which the ingredients are steamed to create the cream. We also got to have a sneak peak of the Christmas Edition tins – definitely a great present!
Next we moved on to Micro Cell, a German nail brand focussing on nail care & health. Though they do make coloured polishes, the selection is more limited than some brands as they really want their focus & strength to be on creating high quality products to leave your nails in the best condition possible. This brand really intrigues me, particularly as my nails keep splitting & breaking. I’ll be bringing you a little review on the Nail Repair soon.
Up next were Beauty Crowd, who had a selection of the products they stock on show for us. The stand caught my eye as the products displayed included hypoallergenic brand Bell. If you want my thoughts on the use of the term ‘hypoallergenic’, you can read them in my ‘Hypoallergenic’ What Does It Actually Mean? post. What I will tell you though is that, the products I have seen from this brand do not contain common allergens. Could this be the first brand to properly implement the term in their products?
Beauty Crowd stock a number of American brands, such as Milani & Jordana, as well as Makeup Revolution’s new brand Freedom & the cult brand Fairy Drops.
It was great to meet the founder of Dr PawPaw. Having loved their original balm, want to know my thoughts? You can read my Dr. PawPaw Original Balm Review. I was excited to see the Ultimate Red balm. I bought the Peach Pink version recently & really like the colour payoff & the great finish it gives for lips & cheeks.
Did you know Revlon make hair care products? Me neither! They’ve a couple of lines, all available in Revlon salons. I’m looking forward to bringing you reviews on sone of the products from this brand. Find out what I thought of their hair oil in my Revlon Orofluido Asia Zen Control Elixir Review.
The three of us found a little spot to the side to sit, have a little rest & a chin wag. We also watched as people had their hair styled. There scenery was beautiful. Johnny, the head of the company came over & thanked me for one of my posts & the social media surrounding it. I couldn’t & still can’t believe that he sought ME out to thank me!
After our rest, we headed to Big Sexy Hair – we were drawn in by the Marilyn Monroe image on their bags! They’ve a vast range of products so there’s something for everyone, including colourants for creating mermaid inspired hair! They also have cute hair ties, if you want to know what I thought of them you can find out in my Magi:bobble review!
Whilst chatting to one of the hairdressers from Big Sexy Hair I mentioned cutting in a fringe & he took me over Hair By Sleek, who colour matched me for a clip in fringe! No need to cut one & then have to grow it out if I change my mind or if it doesn’t work as I’d hoped. I’m really excited for it to arrive – look out for pictures of it soon!
Thank you to Catalyst PR for inviting me & to all the amazing brands who attended & shared their wonderful products with us! The brands, bloggers & Catalyst staff were all so friendly, I couldn’t have asked for more! The Catalyst PR Blogger Event was definitely a success.
