Firespiral Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular Review

When I got the opportunity to test out another new release from Firespiral, I jumped at the chance. Firespiral Slings, owned by the lovely Jen and Tamsin, are one of my favourite wrap brands. With a range of designs, weights (gsm), colours, weave types and materials, there’s a Firespiral for everyone. One of my favourite designs is Tentacular Spectacular – it’s a beautiful, lace like design and I love it! So I was excited to have Firespiral Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular visit us for a ‘holiday’ before its release.

The first thing to note about Firespiral Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular is that it’s an Elements weave wrap. This is Firespiral’s more dense weave. If you’re looking for a beater wrap, Elements weave is a great way to go. Where as Firespiral’s Alchemy weave (my favourite of their three weave types) is prone to pulls, the Elements weave isn’t.

Firespiral Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular is a triblend wrap, made up of 74% cotton, 20% hemp and 6% merino wool. Weighing in at between 260-270gsm, it’s a great mid-weight wrap.

The combination of weave, blend, thickness, weight and design of this wrap makes it strong and supportive, with good grip and glide in equal amounts.

I’m a big fan of hemp in wraps. It’s soft, thin and strong. For the most part, I don’t get on with thicker wraps. I find them hard on my hands because of my hEDS. So, hemp gives me strength in a wrap without significantly bumping up the thickness of a wrap.

Wool is a fibre that I haven’t explored until very recently. With us being a high allergy family, I haven’t wanted to spend money on a wrap with wool and risk Elise or me being allergic to it. I’m pleased to say that the 6% merino wool in Firespiral Tentacular Spectacular caused us no problems at all. I’ve seen people referring to wraps with wool in as being prickly, but I didn’t find this was the case here.

We’ve seen Cyano (the blue and green colours) in previous releases, including the Verdant Cyano Birch Trees that we were able to try through our It’s A Sling Thing Hire. Where as previous releases have consisted of either thin or thick stripes of alternating blue and green to make up the Cyano colourway, the Cyano in Firespiral Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular is graduated along the wrap – the turquoise green transitions into electric blue along the length of the wrap.

One of my favourite things about Firespiral Seaspray Tentacular Spectacular is the way that the Cyano shade glows! It’s a beautiful effect, created by having the beautiful Seaspray white as a backing – it shines through.

Firespiral Seaspray Tentacular Spectacular is a great all rounder. Strong enough for wearing a toddler, but mouldable and soft enough to be a great newborn wrap too. It’s Elements weave means that it’s a fantastic every day wrap, as you don’t need to be concerned about pulls.
