2019 Project Pan Update 1

Wow! We’re already three months into the year, which means it’s time for my 2019 Project Pan Update 1! The start of 2019 has been a particularly challenging one for me, with PTSD causing me significant issues. But, I’m things have significantly improved these past few weeks, with support being put in place and a very helpful change in medication.

2019 Project Pan Introduction, 2019 Project Pan Update 1,

One of the things I really enjoy about project panning is seeing the progress I’ve made. Given how difficult things have been and how I’ve felt like I’m not achieving anything, I’m looking forward to writing my 2019 Project Pan Update 1, to remind myself as much as anything else, how far I’ve come over the last three months.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Perfume Samples – 9/22 Finished (One sample didn’t spray)

I’ve really been enjoying working through my perfume samples. I’ve discovered some new scents I love and learned a little more about what I like in a fragrance. Not only have I been enjoying using my perfume samples up, I’ve also enjoyed documenting it on my Instagram Stories. Once I’ve finished one of my perfume samples, I’ve put it into one of three categories:

2019 Project Pan Update 1

Love It

Carolina Herrera, 212 VIP

YSL, Black Opium

Lancome, La Vie Est Belle

Like It

Jo Malone, Wood Sage And Sea Salt

Gold Couture, Viva La Juicy

Thierry Mugler, Alien Essence Absolue

Prada, Candy

2019 Project Pan Update 1

Not For Me

Balenziaga, Florabotanica

If I’m able to carry on using my perfume samples up at the same rate, they’ll be finished well before the year is over.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: No7 Exfoliator and No7 Hydrating Mask

Unfortunately, I haven’t used my exfoliator or hydrating mask much at all. I just haven’t felt like I have the time or the energy for even a basic evening skincare routine. If I’ve managed to clean my teeth before bed, I’ve counted it as a win. I think I used these two products twice at the start of the year, before things fell apart.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

So I’m going to work on setting myself up wit a nice evening routine, including a once-a-week treat for my skin.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Clarins Hydraquench Serum Miniature* – Finished 25/3/19

I identified that I wasn’t doing an evening skincare routine, let along a once a week treatment. So, to give myself and my skin a little extra TLC with minimal effort, I started using my Clarins Hydraquench Serum every morning, between toning and moisturising. This was a good call on my part as not only have I been able to finish my serum up, I also improved my the look and feel of my skin.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

I’m going to be replacing my Clarins Hydraquench Serum with my Simply Pure Serum, to encourage me to continue putting some effort into my skincare routine.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Dr PawPaw Red Balm* – Finished 16/2/19

If you’ve read my Dr PawPaw original balm review, you’ll know that I love this balm. However, I haven’t felt the same about the tinted versions. I find them to be messy and leave a stain. But, because they still have the properties of the original balm, I’ve been using them on my cracked heels during the colder months, so that they don’t go to waste.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

In my 2018 project pan, I finished off one of these balms, the pink peach version, in the year (using only during sock season). So you can imagine my surprise when I finished a whole tube up in less than two months. This might be because it’s a different colour and seems to have a different consistency to it. It also might be that I’m more mobile than I was last year, so my heels need more attention. Either way, I’m pleased that I’ve finished this up.

I’ll now be using a colourless PawPaw balm for the warmer months, before adding in my last coloured balm in the Autumn.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Natural World Coconut Hair Oil* – Finished 16/3/19

Deciding to put my Natural World Coconut Hair Oil into my project pan was a stroke of self care genius. The few seconds that it took to run this oil through my hair made a big difference to how it felt. A difference that I benefitted from throughout the day when I ran my fingers through my hair and it was lovely and soft. I love this oil. You can find out just how much, in my Natural World Hair Oil Review post.

I’m going to replace this oil with my Natural World Brazilian Keratin Hair Oil*.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Anatomicals Don’t Loose Your Cherry Lip Balm*

If you’ve read my Anatomicals lip balm review, you’ll know that this is one of my favourite lip balms of all time. I put it into my project pan because it had been open for a while and I didn’t want it to go bad before I managed to use it up. Once I’ve worked through the lip balms I own, I’ll be replacing this one for sure!

At the end of March, I hadn’t quite finished this lip balm up, but wasn’t far away. Probably because I kept misplacing it. This will definitely be finished up before the next update.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

2019 Project Pan Update 1: The Body Shop Raspberry Lip Balm – Started 10/2/19

As I misplaced my Anatomicals lip balm, I needed to make a start on another. So I chose my The Body Shop Raspberry Lip Balm, as it’s the most moisturising of the lip balms I have still to use up which is just what I need in the cold weather. However, the next day I found my Anatomicals lip balm and went back to using that.

Don’t laugh, but I then misplaced my Anatomicals lip balm again! I found it a few days later on a shelf in my wardrobe. I’m not sure how it got there, or why I didn’t notice it sooner.

So, although I started my raspberry lip balm in February, I’ve not been using it regularly and as a result only have a small dent to show for it. Previously, this lip balm has taken three months to finish up, so I know it will be completed by the end of the year.

If you’ve read my The Body Shop Raspberry Lip Balm review, you’ll know that I love this lip balm for the warmer months!

2019 Project Pan Update 1

2019 Project Pan Update 1: L’Oreal Instant Blur Skin Perfecter

Having tried to use this product up in last year’s project pan without success, I decided to keep it in the bathroom with my moisturiser to remind me to use it. For the most part, this has worked well. I certainly could have made more progress, but I’ll let myself off since I’ve really not been well these past few months and my memory as been significantly affected. I’d love to finish this product by my next update.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – Finished 15/3/19

I managed to get a few uses out of my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, before accepting that it was at the end of it’s life. I wasn’t getting much product out of the tube and what I did get was quite dry as I’ve had this concealer for a long time.

If you’ve read my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer review, you’ll know that I really enjoyed this concealer. However, I’m not wearing much makeup at present, so I feel like a lighter concealer is more appropriate. I rarely wear a base product, so a highlighting pen concealer gives more subtle coverage. As a result, I’ll be working on using up my Collection Illuminating Concealer.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipgloss in Molto Mauve

One of my self care strategies is to wear makeup on a semi regular basis. Wearing makeup helps me to feel like I can take on the day. This is particularly helpful when I have appointments for Elise – It’s a kind of ‘fake it ’till you make it’ mentality. I feel stronger and like medical professionals take me more seriously if I look vaguely put together.

Saying this, I don’t have much time to put on makeup. So I’m focussing on mascara, brow products and a lip colour. These are all in a makeup bag ready, so that I don’t have to spend time deciding which products to use or trying to find them.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

For my lip colour, I’ve decided to work on using up my L’Oreal Colour Riche lip gloss in Molto Mauve. This shade is a great my-lips-but-better, so works well for all situations.

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Browhaus Classic Brow Lead*

If you’ve read my Browhaus Classic Brow Lead review, you’ll know that I found this pencil a little too light in shade for my taste. While the shade is too light for the tails of my brows, it works ok in the main body which aren’t as sparce. So, I’m going to make a concerted effort to use this pencil up in the body of my brows.

I’m not convinced that I’ll manage to finish this by the end of the year, but I’ll try my best and be happy if I can make some good progress.

2019 Project Pan Update 1

2019 Project Pan Update 1: Know Cosmetics No Bare Brows*

If you’ve read my Know Cosmetics No Bare Brows review, you’ll know that I love this brow product! I’ve added this brow product into my project as it’s nearly finished and the colour works well with the Browhaus Classic Brow Lead that I’m trying to use up.

I’d love for Know Cosmetics to come out with this product as just a pencil and sharpener – I didn’t get on with the wax pencil and it feels wasteful to repurchase it when I’m only using one of the two products.

Finished Products:

1. Dr PawPaw Red Balm – £6.95

2. Natural World Coconut Hair Oil – £3.95

3. Nars Radient Creamy Concealer – £24

4. Clarins Hydraquench Serum mini – £22 (for 15ml – 30ml costs £44)

Perfume samples – 9/23

Total used up: £56.90 (perfume samples not included, as that’s a lot of maths that I don’t have the time or energy for!)
