One of the things that Blogmas taught me was that I’m able to manage to post every day. Granted, I had to let a few other things slide to be able to so so, but I did it. I’ve had a few people ask for a recap or highlights post of the #SpoonieSpeak twitter chat and I figured that the start of the year would be the perfect time to implement this. So let’s see how the #SpoonieSpeak community are looking back on 2016.
The ‘Looking Back On 2016’ chat took place on 6th January, hosted by the @SpoonieSpeak twitter account.

Q1. Please introduce yourself in a way you are comfortable. #SpoonieSpeak
As this is an introductory question, I’m not going to cover it in the chat highlights. I don’t think it would add anything to the post, but it does really benefit the chat. I’ll probably replace ‘Q1’ with ‘Intro’ for future chats, so that highlight posts start with Q1, rather than Q2.
Q2. What has been difficult about 2016 for you? #SpoonieSpeak
It’s hard to avoid difficulties when you live with chronic illness. How we deal with these difficulties can impact how easily we are able to get through them. To start the chat, we shared some of the difficulties we’ve experienced in 2016, so that we could look at how we coped.
Q3. What did you do to cope with or improve these difficulties? #SpoonieSpeak
How we deal with things can affect their outcome. However, it can be hard to do when you’re faced with such difficult situations. This question was designed to share helpful ideas for dealing with the difficult and unique situations we face as people with chronic illness.
Q4. What have been the highlights 2016 for you? #SpoonieSpeak
When thinking about the difficulties, it’s always important to finish by looking at the positives. This puts us in a better frame of mind. I love celebrating your achievements and successes. I just wish I had the space for more!
Q5. What extra steps did you have to take because of your chronic illness(es) to make these highlights possible? #SpoonieSpeak
It’s important to remember that our achievements take more careful planning and extra effort than they would for those without chronic illness. For this question, we shared the extra steps we took to make out highlights possible. I hope the answers to this question have given people ideas on how to make 2017 a really good year.
Looking back on 2016 with the#SpoonieSpeak community has been great fun.
Next week’s topic is hopes and plans for 2017. We’d love it if you could join us!
