Where is this year going? Seriously! We’re now 2/3 of the way through the year! As we’ve come to the end of another month it’s time for me to share with you my April Advertiser! The lovely lady you will have seen throughout April in my side bar, as well as being featured on my social media is fellow spoonies Tamsin, so let me tell you all about Tamsin & her blog.

Tamsin from Eco Fluffy Mama
There are certain topics that I choose not to cover here on my blog, because Dan & I are teachers. Once of these topics is periods & feminine products. Imagine if one of Dan’s student’s found my blog, how awkward would it be for Dan if his kids were able to find those kind of details! I was hugely excited when Tamsin, a menstrual activist, got in touch with me to be one of my advertisers. I think it’s really important to discuss menstruation, as it’s a normal part of life.

Tamsin is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to reusable sanitary products, such as cloth pads & menstrual cups. Not only does Tamsin share reviews of these products, she also discusses comparisons to really help you identify the best product for your personal use.
Tamsin also writes on topics such as period leave, a ‘Period Policy’ implemented by a UK company to allow women to take time off for menstrual issues. You might see this as a positive step, but have you considered the other implications this policy will have? Tamsin has & discusses this in her post Period Leave – Is It The Answer?. In my mind, there already is a policy in place, it’s called ‘sick leave’! If you’re unable to function because of you’re menstruation there is a medical issue that needs to be looked into & you should be covered by your work’s sickness policy.
Tamsin’s blog covers all menstrual issues & is really thought provoking. Her post It’s Not Just Women Who Menstruate was a really interesting one. I don’t know a whole lot about gender identities, but since I started to identify as disabled, I’ve been really interested in the different ways in which we, as humans, identify. I know that sex & gender are different, but I hadn’t thought further into this. For example, you could be a female (your sex) but be identify as masculine, gender fluid, gender neutral or a whole host of other gender identities. If you identify as any gender other than feminine then you. So it is very possible not to identify as a woman, but to be a female and therefore likely to menstruate (unless your periods have been stopped for medical reasons like PMS).

It really is! Xx
Tamsin’s blog sounds amazing. The whole period leave thing really bothers me (it seems like such a step back for women) so I love reading posts for both sides of the argument. Definitely going to check out her blog!

Tamsin’s blog is a wealth of knowledge & so well put together! I completely agree with you, the period leave is worrying. I don’t think people have thought about what the bigger picture will mean. Xx
