How I Style Pink Cut Off Trousers

The past week, those of us in the UK have been slowly melting. The only thinks I’ve been concerned about have been staying cool and not passing out (heat is something I really struggle with with my PoTS). So my main priorities when choosing an outfit are: Is it comfortable? Is it cotton? Is it loose? Thankfully, these pink cut off trousers fit the bill perfectly. So I thought I’d share with you how I’ve been styling them.

I picked up these pink cut off trousers from Primark a several years ago, but because of my medication related weight gain, they’ve lived up in the loft for a few years. I rediscovered them when Dan got the bags of clothes down for me to go through and I’m thrilled to have them back in my life.

In terms of fit, I find these pink cut off trousers very flattering. My thighs are on the larger size and as a result, certain cuts of trousers just don’t suit me. But these, are flattering both standing up and sitting down. The pleating detail at the front means that there’s extra fabric so they don’t become tight when sitting. I really like the fit and find the length flattering on me.

The material is thin, loose and cotton, which is ideal of a hot summer’s day. The one drawback with these pink cut off trousers is that the fabric creases easily. I wanted to take these on holiday with me, but there’s just no way that’s going to happen. I can’t iron because of my EDS and I’m not about to ask Dan to do the ironing while he’s on holiday. So packing needs to be clothes that aren’t going to crease as soon as they’re placed in my suitcase. It’s a shame, because if they didn’t crease easily, these trousers would be ideal for day time excursions.

For this outfit, I paired my pink cut off trousers with a white scoop neck t-shirt from River Island. When I purchased this t-shirt,I had this outfit and another in mind. I’d noticed that my wardrobe was lacking a plain white Tee, so needed to sort that out! I still have a gift voucher for River Island from a couple of birthdays ago, and as River Island had a 2 for £16 on these t-shirts (£10 each), I decided to pick up a pin one too. I love the scoop neckline and that this t-shirt isn’t see through. All of the other white t-shirts I was looking at were so thin that you could see through them.

To compliment the neckline of the scoop neck t-shirt, I decided to add two necklaces in a layered effect. I love the layered look, but this is the first time I’ve managed to pull it off successfully. Here, I opted for two pieces from Jewellery Box, the Abella Bee Necklace in Sterling Silver* and the Sterling Silver 16 Inch Arrow Necklace. I think the shapes these necklaces create (the triangular shape of the pendant and the squared shape of the arrow detail) look really nice and add extra interest.

The bag I chose for this outfit is my tan shoulder bag from Next. This was a birthday present from my parents-in-law and I love it! The strap is the perfect size to fit round my waist, which means I don’t have the annoyance of a cross body strap that falls down when I self-propel. The shoes are also from Next, and were a present alongside the bag. I really like how tan looks with the white and pink of the outfit.

This is the outfit I wore on a recent trip to Birmingham, which you can watch in my Birmingham vlog (featuring my Kuschall K-Series wheelchair, not the Pride I-G0). I packed my denim jacket in a rucksack, just incase the evening was cooler. It wasn’t, so the jacket stayed in my bag but on cooler days, this is what I’d add to keep warm.

I wore these pink cut off trousers to my wedding rehearsal, so they have very happy memories attached. I must share that outfit with you at some point.
