Romantic Jewellery Pieces For Every Budget

Dan and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s day, but when I realised that my weekly fashion post would fall on the 14th, I knew I had to do a themed post for you all. I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite romantic jewellery pieces for all budgets, as this isn’t going to be only suitable for Valentine’s day. None of these have been given to me as Valentine’s Day presents, instead I’ve received them for Christmas, birthdays and special occasions. I’ve tried not to be too heart heavy in this post, but I do have some gorgeous heart pieces!

Romantic Jewellery Pieces: Heart Necklaces

Given to me for my 18th birthday with a matching bracelet, this toggle clasp two tone heart necklace from Autumn & May is perfect for all occasions. I first wore the bracelet to my school’s awards ceremony and unfortunately it came off. Thankfully, a member of staff where the event was held found it and I got it back. We took the necklace and bracelet to a family friend who’s a silversmith. He soldered the toggle clasp of both the necklace and bracelet and added a lobster clasp for me.

My two toned hearts necklace with a diamond was a present from Dan. I can’t remember if it was a birthday or Christmas present. I love the two tone colours of both heart necklaces and it’s a great option if I want something more delicate than my toggle clasp two tone heart necklace.

For my 21st birthday, Dan bought me a heart locket. This locket is one of my most meaningful pieces of jewellery. My relationship before Dan was abusive, and as a result, I developed PTSD. Unfortunately, I had a bad locket related experience with my ex. So when I opened this beautiful necklace on my 21st birthday, I nearly burst into tears.

I didn’t know what to say. It wasn’t like I could tell Dan I couldn’t accept it, he’d gone to so much effort to buy me a beautiful and meaningful present. I was speechless, trying to mask my pain. Unsure what to say or do. Then, Dan told me to turn the locket over. I did and my pain and fear melted away. The locket was inscribed with ‘T & D’. That thoughtful addition was something my ex would NEVER have done. To me, this locket embodies the way Dan’s constantly supported me through many health difficulties.

Romantic Jewellery Pieces: Necklaces (Non-Heart)

Rubies are a such a beautiful shade and perfect for Valentine’s day or other romantic occasions. Dan bought me this diamond and ruby drop necklace one Christmas, because my birth stone is ruby. I have to admit that I don’t wear it often. I’m not one for wearing red, though this has changed as I’ve become more confident with red lipstick. But I have to have the right outfit to compliment this necklace. One such outfit is my Cold Shoulder Strappy Jumper Outfit. I’m very glad that I’ve found a way to compliment this necklace with my clothing.

Want could be more romantic than a mythical creature? I love my Jewellery Box Tiny Sterling Silver Unicorn necklace* from £7.95. This beautiful necklace is delicate and has beautiful detail. It’s available on a variety of chain lengths depending on your preference and is perfect as an everyday piece.

Romantic Jewellery Pieces: Bracelets

I’m not really sure how to name my pearl bracelet. It’s made from sterling silver and contains light pink (dyed) pearls. To me, pearls are a romantic stone. The off shoots from the bracelet itself, with balls on the end, remind me of plants. Along with the light pink pearls, this give a very romantic effect. I picked this bracelet up from TKMaxx, where I also found some complimenting (but not matching) earnings.

I’ve admired the Hot Diamonds jewellery designs for quite a while. One birthday, Dan bought me this Heart bracelet, which I think is probably from their ‘Love’ line. While I usually lean towards delicate jewellery, I really like that this bracelet is chunkier. I tend not to wear delicate bracelets, as they’re much more likely to get caught on things and damaged than necklaces are. I love the diamond placement and the way the links attach to the open heart.

Romantic Jewellery Pieces: Earrings

As I’ve said, pearls to me are romantic. These pearl earrings were a 30th birthday present from my best friend from school and came with a matching necklace. The swirl around the pearl gives a soft setting, which to me embodies romance.

Another story from my romance with Dan; in our first year together, went to our music college’s summer ball. Dan booked us a hotel (my accommodation had come to an end and he lived too far away to drive there and back). We got ready at the hotel and Dan produced a small box. He’d previously asked me “what’s your favourite?” from an engagement ring display in a jewellers window, so I really didn’t know what to expect inside the box. I’m honestly not sure why I didn’t run after that question – we’d only been together two months!

Dan saw the fear in my face and reassured me that he hadn’t bought an engagement ring. I opened the box to find a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. The setting holding the diamond is beautiful. I think it really adds character to the earrings, rather than them ‘just’ being a plain diamond. I wore this pair of earrings, along with a pair of my Mum’s sapphire earrings (my something blue and something borrowed) on my wedding day.

Don’t underestimate cubic zirconia. Diamonds are great, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you want something simple and inexpensive for everyday. Dan bought me these CZ earrings one Christmas. I wanted a less expensive alternative to the diamond earrings above, which I save for special occasions. When I found out that the sales assistant had told Dan he was ‘cheap’ for not buying me real diamonds, I wanted to got straight to the store and take her down a peg or two!

Romantic Jewellery Pieces: Rings

Pandora have some lovely romantic jewellery pieces. I love their stacking rings. The first piece of Pandora jewellery I bought was the Heart Stacking Ring £35. Made from Sterling Silver, this delicate and subtle ring is perfect for everyday wear. I love how the hearts alternate in direction to create the band.

Is there a more romantic stone than a diamond!?! It wouldn’t be a romantic jewellery pieces post if I didn’t finish with my wedding and engagement rings. Dan and I met while studying at Birmingham Conservatoire, close to the famous Jewellery Quarter. For my engagement ring, Dan drew a sketch of what he wanted, took it to one of the jewellers in the Jewellery Quarter and asked them to make it for him. He picked the diamond himself, with my photosensitivity and the reflections of the stone in mind.

We wanted to get my wedding band from the same jewellers that made my engagement ring, but unfortunately they were no longer in the Jewellery Quarter. Instead we made some appointments with other jewellers in the Quarter and settled on the shop situated next door to where my engagement ring had come from. They made sure my wedding ring sat flush against my engagement ring. This meant that I had to leave my engagement ring with them for a month or so, but it was totally worth it!
