Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Focus On Lips And Cheeks

You may know that for the past few years, I’ve been project panning. This is where you pick some products you want to use up or make progress on, decide what your goal is for each product and then set a time frame for achieving your targets. This could be a short time frame (a month or season), a longer time frame (a year), or an indefinite amount of time (a rolling project pan). While I’ve loved doing my project pans, and am working on my 2018 Project Pan, I do sometimes feel that I’m neglecting other products I own as a result. As I’ve not picked many makeup products in this year’s project pan, I thought I’d use this as an opportunity to pull out some products for a shop my stash summer 2018.

Shop My Stash Summer 2018

Even though we’re in spring at the moment, I’ve called this a Shop My Stash Summer 2018 for two reasons:

1. SEO won’t allow me to use Spring/Summer

2. As I start to write this (20th April), the weather is much more summer like than it is spring. Anyone else feel like for the past few years we’ve transitioned straight from winter weather into summer? A month ago we had snow! Now we’re seeing temperatures in the 20s in the UK (not that I’m complaining!).

While picking products, I’ve tried to include things that don’t automatically spring to mind. For example, when I think of a light pink blusher, I immediately think of Benefit’s Hervana and Bobbi Brown’s Nude Pink. While I could have put either of these into my shop my stash 2018 because I haven’t used them for a while, I’ve tried to pick products that have been forgotten about in the hope that they’ll join the ranks of my go-to products in the future.

I’ve decided to focus on cheek and lip products in my shop my stash 2018, as they’re quick and easy to apply. I may well use eyeshadow and other products for special occasions, but I’m not going to be using them, so haven’t pulled any out.

When choosing, I decided to start with lip products, as these are going to form the main focus of my makeup this spring and summer. I initially started to pick out matte and satin finishes, but I can’t see me getting much wear out of them. So instead I focussed on sheer lipsticks and lip glosses. If I have an occasion (like Elise’s Christening) that I want something long lasting for, I can always delve into my collection – this shop my stash is more for everyday products.

Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Sheer Lipsticks

I’ve picked seven sheer lipsticks to give myself a good variety of shade options. Me choices are:

Sonia Kashuk Sheer Juicy Coral – This was a gift from a friend in America. I love the peachy coral shade but haven’t reached for it because until now I’ve opted for more pigmented, brighter lipsticks in the spring and summer.

EDIT: I had an allergic reaction to this lipstick, so have passed it on to my sister. Such a shame, as I love the colour.

YSL Rouge Volute Shine, 16 and 6 – Two of my newer lipsticks, but my only sheer, bring pink and coral options. Both were bought with gift vouchers, so I feel very smug when I wear them, knowing that I have a luxury lipstick that I haven’t technically paid for!

Dior Serum De Rouge, 640 – This was one of the first lipsticks I bought, so it really needs using up. I went through a phase of not liking the pinky nude colour on me, so it’s sat at the bottom of a draw for a few years. Or maybe it was the finish that I didn’t like? At one point I felt it was almost metallic, which is definitely not my cup of tea. It’s high time I give this some love and make it work for me!

Dior Addict, 553 – This is a lovely soft pink shade that I bought for my first ever blogger event! I have no idea why I don’t reach for this and it’s high time that changed.

Revlon Shine, Pink Sizzle – Revlon make such fantastic lipsticks! Until now, I’ve tended to reach for there Creme and Matte formulas. But, now that I’m a Mummy and want something quick to apply and easy to maintain, I can see myself reaching for their Shine formulas again. Pink Sizzle is a bright, warm toned pink, perfect for summer!

Seventeen Nudist Peach – I bought Nudist Peach after hearing Avia from The Sparkleicious talking about it many years ago. I can’t remember why I never really reached for this, but when I pulled it out I almost offered it to my sister. The first time I tried it on, it looked like I barely had anything on my lips. I persevered and tried it on in a different light the next day and was shocked at how different it looked! As the name suggests, this lipstick is a warm nude shade, which suits me nicely. I’m so glad I didn’t offer it to my sister!

Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Lip Gloss

Benefit Coralisa – Coralista is one of my favourite lip gloss shades. But, because I haven’t worn lip gloss in quite a while, I thought I’d include one of my go-to’s in order to ease me into loving glosses again. I hope it works! This is a pigmented coral shade and really comfortable to wear.

Revlon Clourburst, Strawberry Fraise _ A warm, bright pink with shimmer, Strawberry Fraise is a great summer option! The formula is comfortable to wear, pigmented and long lasting for a lip gloss.

Revlon Clourburst, Papaya Papaye – A bright coral with subtle shimmer. How have I not reached for this shade more!?

Revlon Clourburst, Peony Pivoine – For a more subtle option, I’ve included Peony Pivoile, a peachy pink with gold sparkle. The warmth in this shade makes it an ideal spring and summer option.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire, Molto Mauve – A lovely goes-with-everything mauve shade, Molto Mauve is another that springs to mind, so I’m hoping it will encourage me to rekindle my lost love of gloss.

Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Blusher

Urban Decay Cream Blush, Bang – This is so old and it REALLY needs using up. I think the red tones in Bang have previously stopped me from reaching for it. But, what better time to use a warm, slightly red toned blusher than in spring and summer!

Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop – The indentation on this blusher is so pretty that I haven’t reached for it for fear of messing up the pattern. How silly is that!? I need to change this.

Milani Luminous – So many people rave about this shade, yet I can’t think of a single look I’ve used it in. It’s such a beautiful shade and unique in my collection so I want to show it some love.

MaxFactor Creme Puff Blush, Lovely Pink – The formula and finish of the Creme Puff Blushes are lovely! I wanted to include a light pink blusher to complement my bright pink lip products, but didn’t want to include my usual go-to’s. So Lovely Pink seemed like the perfect option!

Bourjois Little Pot Rouge, Brun Curve – One of the first blushes I owned. This was a shade my sister, who was taking a makeup course at the time, picked out for me. I LOVED it! But, as I’ve experimented with makeup more, this blusher has found it’s way to the very back of my draw. So now it’s time to show it some love again!

Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Bronzer

Bobbi Brown Cream Blusher in Uber Beige – I bought this to use as a cream bronzer a few years ago. I loved how the shade and finish looked on me when the Bobbi Brown artist applied it. I even had people asking me where I’d been on holiday, because the shade was so perfect for me.

However, I’ve only used it a handful of times, which is really silly. Something about it being a cream formula makes me feel like it’s going to take longer to apply and require more precise placement and blending than a powder, which is silly.

So this spring and summer, I’m going to make an effort to reach for this when I want a bronzy glow to my face.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder – For a quick dust-and-go bronzer, the Soap & Glory Solar Powder is a brilliant option – perfect as a new Mum who doesn’t have time to blend!

Claris Bronzing Duo, Light – A few years ago, I bought a Clarins waterproof mascara top coat for a holiday. Unfortunately, it didn’t work at all – I ended up with mascara flakes all over my face as soon as I entered the pool. While Clarins wouldn’t refund me, they did offer me an exchange. There weren’t many products that I’m not allergic to, so out of the small selection I picked the Light bronzer. About three summers have passed and I’ve still not tried it! So this is the year that changes.

Shop My Stash Summer 2018: Highlighter

Sleek Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighter Palette – The Sleek palettes are a new discovery for me and the shades in Cleopatra’s Kiss scream summer to me. As I haven’t reached for this palette yet, it made sense to include it in my shop my stash summer 2018.

MAC MSF, Global Glow – If ever there’s a time I’m going to be able to wear Global Glow, it’s summer! As I’ve fallen in love with Soft & Gentle over the past year and a half, it’s high time that I expand my love of MAC highlighters, starting with Global Glow!

Laura Mercier Highlighter, Indiscretion – Indiscretion is such a beautiful highlighter, but I don’t reach for it because of the beautiful embossed pattern. This is really silly! Now that this shade has made it into Laura Mercier’s permanent collection, I’ll be able to replace it if I ever finish it up. So now is the time to show it some love! Check out my Laura Mercier Highlighter in Indiscretion Review for more information on this gorgeous highlighter.

MAC Paint Pot In Bare Study – When I want a single quick swipe of something that’s going to last all day, I reach for my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On And On Bronze. However, with me getting so little sleep, I’m not liking how the shade looks on me. It’s too dark. I need something that’s going to brighten my eyes. Bare Study is the perfect option for this – being a subtle champagne shade. I haven’t got on well with Soft Ochre in the summer months (read more about this in my Soft Ochre review), but I’m hoping that Bare Study will be a different story. This is a good opportunity to find out!
