Transitional Outfit: Shop My Wardrobe

So it’s officially Autumn, but in true British style our weather is temperamental. We’ve had temperatures in the high 20s this past week, as well as rain & thunderstorms. So picking an outfit for this weather is difficult. To help you out, I thought I’d put together a transitional outfit, with a few core pieces & show you how I would wear them based on what the weather decided it would do on the day.

So my core pieces are straight cut jeans, a black t-shirt & black pumps. The jeans & t-shirt are both from New Look. You could probably find the jeans or something similar in New Look. These aren’t great for wearing when using my wheelchair, so I’ll swap them for jeggings if I’m going to be using my chair. The top I bought a few years ago, so you’re unlikely to find the exact style, but this gives you an idea of what would work. I haven’t bought clothes in a while as my weight is fluctuating & I don’t intend to until this has settled. The shoes came from TKMaxx a few years ago, but they’re pretty standard black pumps.

I had a little friend want in on the photo!

For warmer days, this will be my outfit. If I think the weather might get a little cooler, I’ll have my thin cardigan from New Look with me. I’ve had this one for a while, but I often see the style in stores so hopefully it will be back this season too.

For colder days, I’ll swap my shoes for boots. These brown ones I picked up from New Look last year. I’ve previously featured them in my Styling Yoga Pants post. I really get on well with the fit of New Look’s shoes, particularly in their Wide Fit range. I’ll also swap my thin cardigan for my faux leather jacket from River Island. My sister bought this a few months ago as part of our bridesmaid attire & the combination of bridesmaid dress & leather jacket looked great.

Because you loose a lot of heat from your head, I like to add a hat for the colder months too, as long as it’s not going to be windy. The brim of this hat also helps me minimise my exposure to artificial lighting, which affects my basilar type & hemiplegic migraine. This hat is from H&M, but it’s a popular style, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find something similar.

Another thing I like to do to keep myself warmer is to add hair extensions to my look. This adds extra thickness to my hair & definitely helps fend off the cold. Here I’m wearing hair extensions from Irresistible Me, which I’ve recently written a review on.

I wanted to show you my nail polish, a bright but deep pink. This really spoke to me as being perfect for both warmer days & cooler, more Autumnal feeling temperatures. Unfortunately, this polish chipped before I took the photos even though I only put it on the night before.

This transitional outfit also works well for spring, when the weather is temperamental.

What do you think of my transitional outfit? Do you have a go to outfit that you can customise depending on the weather?

  1. This is a great outfit for that in between stage we’re at. I can’t imagine how difficult it might be finding what to wear this time of year in the UK. I loove the outfit when it starts to get cooler out. Can’t go wrong with a leather jacket and boots. Great post :)

    • Thank you so much! If I’m doing something, I like to have my outfit planned out the night before. It helps me conserve energy in the morning. The weather at the moment makes that almost impossible without a plan like this. Now I can choose my base outfit & have two options, one for warm & one for cool weather. Then I just work out which is most appropriate based on the weather forecast on the day. UK weather forecasts are notoriously inaccurate, so I don’t even trust them the night before! Xx

  2. This is a lovely outfit, I love your leather jacket, I am in desperate need of a new one so will be checking out River Island, I bought Cole one from there for her birthday and it’s lovely too but we might look daft in the same one ha ha. I love the boots too they look so nice, I love how you have put the outfits together and how versatile they are for the silly weather we’ve been having. Great post lovely xxx

    • Thank you so much Zoe! My sister found it & I’ve been wearing it loads since the wedding. It’s been a big hit with me. Haha I know what you mean about potentially looking silly in the same jacket. I really hope you’re able to find a leather jacket that you love. Xx

  3. fantastic pictures, I can’t stand this time of year, it needs to either be warm, or cool down. it just cannot make its mind up, can it?

    • Aww!!! Thank you so much Kellie! That means an awful lot coming from you. I’m not a fan of the cold, so at least while it can’t make up it’s mind we’re getting some warmth. But it’s a big pain for getting dressed in the morning! Xx

  4. The weather lately has been all over the place, hasn’t it! <3 I don't know what to wear half the time, either, I kind of wish it was proper autumn already so we can get into wearing cosy jumpers and what not. ^^ Loving your outfit hun, you styled it beautifully! It's very versatile and so easy to change up. Loving that hat especially, so chic! Thanks for sharing, and yay for that little kitty – so cute!

    • It really has! I’m not a fan of colder weather, so at least with it’s current changeable there’s the hope that we’ll have some warmth. It’s a pain for picking a suitable outfit though. I’m so glad you liked the outfit, thank you! I really need to remember to wear a hat this year to help cut out some of the artificial lighting that Autumn & Winter inevitably bring. I actually had both cat’s join me for photos, but I didn’t like how I looked in the photo Mylo joined in with, so it didn’t make the cut. Xx

  5. It is so hard to know what to wear in this temperamental weather! But I would wear something so similar to this! Love the top (and the cat!) X X X

    • It really is! Haha Freya was such a cutie. Mylo joined in too, but I didn’t like the photo of me so I left it out. I’m hoping he’ll feature in future photos though. Xx
