I can’t believe that I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow back in March, have loved it so much that it made it into my 2015 Makeup Favourites, but haven’t written a review of it yet! So today I thought I would rectify this with!
The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette is now available in two shades, this one in Fair/Medium & the newer shade in the range, Medium/Dark. Having to shade choses is fantastic! I was initially concerned that the contour portion of this palette would pull to warm toned on me & make me look muddy. Particularly as it is for fair to medium skin tones. My concerns were unwarranted though, as I found out when I had the palette applied on counter. Although the contour shade is warm toned, it’s subtle enough that it looks natural. So much so that as well as suiting my light yellow toned skin beautifully, the contour shade would also work well for light, cool toned skin as well as both warm & cool mid toned skins.
The contour shade is described by Charlotte Tilbury as being “a perfect universal blend of pearl and pigment to contour features and mimic a sun-kissed complexion,” which I would agree with! The pearls give the contour shade a subtle, reflective quality. This gives great definition without a flat look. The highlight is described as “a golden base that flatters any skin tone, and uses Light Flex Technology to capture light and radiate it out for a luminous complexion.” This powder gives a lovely shine without looking glittery.
I love the highlighter section of the palette! It’s like nothing I’ve tried before. With a fan brush it gives a subtle, warm glow. This can be built up to create a stronger intensity depending on your preference. It looks beautiful on the cheek bones, down the bridge & on the tip of the nose, as well as in the inner corners of the eyes to brighten. The difference between this & any other highlighter I’ve tried is the warmth it brings to the face, without being too yellow in tone. Again, this would be ideal for both warm & cool toned skins.
I love how finely milled both powders are. They are incredibly soft & bendable. I love to use the MAC 168 brush with the palette to contour & highlight my face, & the ReatTechniques Duo Fibre Eye brush for my nose. On top of the amazing product, the packaging is absolutely stunning! Just look at it! What’s not to love? The compact gives a lovely ‘old hollywood’ feel to it & is very sturdy. It contains a good sized mirror which would be ideal for makeup application either on-the-go or to take on holiday. I also really like the addition of the star in the top left hand corner of the mirror. It’s little touches like that which add to how special this palette is & show how much care has gone into it’s creation.
The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette isn’t cheap at £49, but I do think it’s worth it. The palette purchased in both shades from Selfridges & John Lewis.

I debated getting the cream one when it came out, but putting the two side by side the cream one looked a lot warmer toned.
