If you’ve read my Dr PawPaw Original Balm* review, you’ll know how much I love this balm. I ran out of my Dr PawPaw just before I had Elise and knew I needed to replace it for my hospital bag (this was before we knew I’d be having a cesarian). I had a Boots voucher, but unfortunately Dr PawPaw isn’t sold at Boots. Instead, I came across the PapayaGold PawPaw Balm. Cheaper than the Dr PawPaw, it seemed silly to spend extra money when I had a voucher to use. Plus, I was intrigued by the additional Manuka honey ingredient. I bought two, one for my handbag (incase Elise arrived unexpectedly) and the other in my hospital bag.

As I’ve been working on my Superdrug Emoji Lip Balm* in my 2018 Project Pan, I’ve mostly used the PapayaGold PawPaw balm on my cracked heels. For the sake of being able to write a comprehensive review for you all, I stopped using my Emoji Lip Balm for a few weeks so I had the change to really put this pawpaw balm to the test.
I really enjoyed using the PapayaGold PawPaw balm. It was great for my cracked heels and felt really nice on my lips too. Honey is and ingredient I love in skincare. It has great soothing and moisturising properties and it’s nice to see this used over wheat and nuts, which so many people are allergic to.
The honey in the PapayaGold PawPaw balm makes it softer than the Dr PawPaw version. It adds an extra moisturising quality to the balm and makes it easier to get out of the tube – which is just what I need with my hEDS! The tube itself has a larger opening than the Dr PawPaw version, from which to dispense product. This also really helped my finger joints when using it as I don’t have to push so hard to get product out.
L to R: Dr PawPaw Peach balm and PapayaGold PawPaw balm
The PapayaGold PawPaw balm costs £5.99 for 25g from Boots.com, 96p cheaper than Dr PawPaw version (also 25g).
I would happily repurchase either of these two PawPaw balms, as they perform equally well. I do you favour the PapayaGold version slightly, because it’s easier for me to get out of the tube and is very slightly less expensive. I’ve enjoyed the PapayaGold PawPaw balm so much that already finished one tube and am onto the second.
Have you tried the PapayaGold PawPaw balm? How did you get on with it?
