Christmas is a hectic time of year. Because of this, I like to put together a Christmas makeup bag so that I can spend the time I would be gazing at my makeup collection wondering what to wear, playing games with my family.This is definitely a better use of my time! I thought I’d share my Christmas makeup bag with you, to show you how I select a minimal number of products for a variety of different looks.
My Christmas makeup bag has been put together for the period of the 23-27th December in mind. I have an event on the 29th that I’ll probably pick a different lip option for, but I haven’t got that far in thinking yet. When putting my Christmas makeup bag together, I wanted to be able to have options for a full makeup look, as well as a quick look, depending on how much time and energy I have. I’ll most likely have some no makeup days over the Christmas period and I’m more than happy with that.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Base
You’ve probably guessed that I’m a huge fan of the Nars Tinted Moisturiser. I’ve reviewed this product (click the link) so I won’t go on too much about it. I find the NARS Tinted Moisturiser really easy to apply an comfortable to wear. It feels much lighter on my skin, which was a great reason to pack it in my makeup bag.
To set my tinted moisturiser, I packed my B. Sheer Finish Setting Powder. I originally bought this to use as a replacement for my MAC MSF Natural, but it doesn’t do the same job for me. I would normally set my face with a powder that gives a glow, like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. As I don’t have much of my B. powder left and I’ll be doing my makeup for the daytime, so I thought it would be a good option for my setting powder.
For days that I don’t want to use a full face of makeup, I’ve packed my MAC MSF Natural in Light Plus. I apply this with a buffing brush to give more coverage. I’m lucky to have good skin, so that this is enough for me for day-to-day. I could just pack my MAC MSF to be a setting powder instead of also taking the B. Finishing Powder, but I really want to use that B. powder up!
For concealer, I packed my trusty NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Because concealer alone isn’t enough to cover the darkness under my eyes, I also packed my Pixi Corrector. I’ve been loving the combination of these two. To set them, I packed my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Eyes
For my eyes, I packed my Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre to act as a base. If I do a full makeup look, I’m going to recreate my gold glitter eyeliner look, so I packed my Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner and the gold glitter eyeliner from Superdrug’s Studio Glitter Eyeliner Christmas set.
The Too Faced Semi-Sweet palette was the eyeshadow palette that I used in my glitter eyeliner look. It’s perfect for a full makeup look wit the gold glitter eyeliner, but it’s also going to be equally suitable for a quick, simple look.
If I’m going to a simple look, I won’t want to be bothering with liquid liner, so I’ve packed my Urban Decay 24/7 pencil liner in corrupt. This is a lovely dark brown colour that will give some definition to my eyes and help them stand out from behind my glasses. I’ve also packed my GOSH white eyeliner, as I’m trying to finish this in my project 10 pan. I’m excited to show you how I’ve got on with this.
For mascara, I packed my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara for my top lashes and my Urban Decay Perversion mascara sample for my bottom lashes.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Brows
I want to go simple for my brows, so I’ve packed my Soap & Glory Brow Archery and my clear mascara from MUA to set this.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Cheeks
I wanted to pack light for my cheeks, because I really don’t need lots of options. Because I’m working on using up as much as possible in my project pan, I packed my Rimmel Cream blusher. This is a lovely light pink shade that goes with a lot of looks.
For my contour and highlight, I decided to take my Lancome Blush Subtil Palette in 01, Rose Flush. The contour shade gives a lovely natural look that can be built up for more drama and the pink toned highlighter isn’t in-your-face, which is what I look for in a day time highlighter. As an added bonus, this palette also contains a light pink blusher. So if I’m not fancying my cream blusher, I have another option.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Lips
I decided to take three lip options, as red, a berry and a neutral shade. For my red lip, I’m taking my No7 Lip Liner in Fire and my No7 Lipstick in Cherry. This is one of my oldest lipsticks and I’d really like to use it up. It’s also a great neutral shade that goes with so many different outfits. For my berry lip, I picked my trusty Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Obsession. This is inexpensive but effective. I chose to pack my YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 2 for my berry lipstick. This is a gorgeous shade and feels very luxurious, which is just what I want at Christmas time.
I chose to pack a neutral lip option because I’m intending to wear my red jumper dress on Christmas eve. The shade of the dress, while lovely, is difficult to compliment with a lip shade. One of the few lipsticks I like with this dress is my Lancome Colour Fever Lipstick in 216. Unfortunately, Lancome have stopped making the Colour Fever line. I pair this with my No7 Lip Liner in Nude.
My Christmas Makeup Bag: Extras
For perfume, I’ve packed a Travelo, filled with Gucci Flora. I love this fragrance. It’s one that Dan bought for me a few Christmases ago and repurchased for me last year. So it’s my perfect Christmas scent.
I’ve also packed a selection of brushes, my tweezers, a little pair of scissors and my pencil sharpener.
Instead of a setting spray, I’ve packed my Botanics Rosewater spray. This is a cheaper alternative to the Urban Decay Setting Sprays and I find it works just as well in the winter when I don’t have to worry about sweating my makeup off.
