What’s In My Autumn Travel Makeup Bag?

You may have seen from social media that Dan & I spent this week at Centre Parcs. Dan found a great last minute deal on an accessible room. We had also just had the call to say my wheelchair was ready. So as we had a date to pick it up before we would travel, meaning being out & about wouldn’t cause me immense pain, we decided to be spontaneous & book it. It’s been a difficult few months, so a holiday was just what we needed. One of the things I love about holidays is packing, so today I thought I’d share with you what I took with my to Centre Parcs in my Autumn travel makeup bag.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Face

As we will have been swimming every day, I know my dry, eczema prone skin will need extra love & attention. I thought the best way to manage this when wearing makeup would be to use my NARS Tinted Moisturiser. I’m also pragmatic, it is likely that I will have days were I am exhausted &, while I still want to put makeup on to go out for dinner, just don’t have the energy to apply timed moisturiser. So I packed my MAC MSF Natural, for this reason. It gives me just enough coverage to use as a base when applied with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

To set my Tinted Moisturiser, I packed my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. This can also be used as a blush topper to create different effects. You can find out more about this in my How To Create A Blusher Using The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette post. This palette contains the shades Dim Light, Incandescent Light & Radiant Light.

To conceal the dark circles under my eyes, I packed my Pixi Corrector & NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. These two work really well together. To set this, I use my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Cheeks

I like to keep things compact & together when travelling, so I decided for blusher I would put together a palette of Bobbi Brown blushes. I decided on my 4 pan palette & filled it with No. 17 Slopes, No. 10 Blushed, No. 29 Nude Pink, No. 28 Nude Peach. I felt that this would give me a good variety of shades. As I’m working on using up my Rimmel Cream Blusher in 001 Baby Kiss in my project Pan, I also packed this to take with me.

For contour, I took my NYX Blusher in Taupe, you really can’t go wrong with this shade. I had difficulty deciding which highlighter to pack, so in the end I took two. I managed to narrow my choice down to MAC Soft & Gentle & Becca Opal Highlighter. In addition to these two highlighters, I also have Incandescent Light from my Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette.

Just because it’s in my Project Pan & I want to finish it up, I packed my Rimmel Sun Bronzer in Light Matte. This is a great bronzer for adding depth & colour to the face in the colder months.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Eyes

I packed three eyeliners, which is a little excessive. I’m loving the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner, it’s quick & easy to use & gives great results. I suspect this would’ve been the liner I sued the most. I’m trying to finish my white GOSH Eyeliner by the end of this year, so threw this into my makeup bag. I use this in the inner corner of my eye every time I wear makeup. I’m also trying to make progress on my Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Corrupt. I know I’m not going to finish it by the end of the year, since I’m using my Supercat Eyeliner so much. Still, I thought I’d pack it on the off chance that it might receive some love.

I’m currently using are the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara on my top lashes & the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara on my bottom lashes. I find the Urban Decay to be a pain to use on my top lashes. I always end up with mascara all over my lid. It’s great for my bottom lashes though, so rather than waste it, I’ve been trying to use it up in this way.

For my brows, I decided on my quick option, the Soap & Glory Brow Archery, set with my MUA Clear Mascara.

I also packed 2 packs of Kiss Lashes, which I was sent to try & will have a review up for you shortly.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Eyeshadow

I always have to have a base for my eyeshadow. As it’s Autumn, my MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot currently works well & doesn’t crease (it does in hot weather). As I’m trying to hit pan on this, I knew I had to bring it along with me.

I often struggle to know which eyeshadow palette to pack. Strangely enough, this time around it was a simple decision, my Smashbox Full Exposure Palette. I think I went for this because of my lipstick choices. I also wanted something that didn’t require too much thought, as I’m likely to be fatigued from all the swimming! This palette makes things easy. The only thing I have to decide is whether I want a cool or warm eye look & then how smoky I want it! Easy, done. The glitter shadows show through my glasses nicely, so I’m not putting in work that will be covered up once my glasses are on.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Lips

I tried really hard to only pack 3 lip colours. I’m only going to be at centre Parcs for 4 evenings after all! For my natural option, I chose the No. 7 Lip Liner in 20 Nude, to go with the Topshop Lipstick in Devotion. My bright (but still Autumn appropriate) pick was the Maxfactor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in 04 Pink Princess, with the GOSH Velvet Touch Matt Lipstick in 010, Smoothie*. For my berry lip, I chose the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in 064 Obsession with the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107. As these were all lip options for dinners out, I picked products that would stay put while eating.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Brushes

Brushes are so important to makeup application, so I wanted to pack some of my favourite brushes to make the process of applying my makeup as enjoyable as possible (particularly as I’m likely to be fatigued).

For my eyes, I packed my 2 MAC 217 brushes, my 2 MAC 239 brushes, my Sigma E25 brush, my Laura Mercier Pony Tail Brush (for setting my concealer), my & Other Stories Eyelash Brush (to comb through my eye brow) & my Real Techniques Detailer Brush (for applying corrector under my eyes).

For my face, I packed my Real Techniques Duo Fibre Face Brush, a non-brand angled face brush from America that is perfect for applying bronzer, the Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Contour Brush, my 2 MAC 168 brushes, my Real Techniques Setting Brush, my Real Techniques Buffing Brush & my Real Techniques Stippling Brush.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Tools

As well as brushes, there are a few tools I like to use & have with my when I travel. So I packed my No.7 sharpener, No7 Eyelash curlers, Cotton buds in Muji Container, Mini Scissors (for trimming my eyebrow hairs), Tweezermen Tweezers & my Bare Minerals Quick Change Brush Cleaner.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Nails

For my nails, I decided to wear a set of imPress nails* & pack 2 other sets, incase the pair I put on don’t last the 5 days we are at Center Parcs. For my toes, I decided on Essie After School Boy Blazer, as this goes with my swimming costume.

Autumn Travel Makeup Bag: Perfume

For perfume, I packed my Gucci Flora. I’m currently on my second bottle, both of which Dan bought for me as Christmas presents.

I managed to get all of these into my Muji Makeup bag & a brush holder I bought from eBay. I’m rather impressed with myself!
